Run THICK oil. No 5w30 s***. I run at least full synthetic 10w40. I try and run 15w40 whenever the store has it. I have seen 3 spun bearings on thin oil. Granted they people driving were driving pretty hard at the time.

The SR runs really good on thick oils. If you are driving it in the cold you might wanna stick to 10w40. If it's warm around you go with the 15w40. Go full synthetic if you can unless it's a new motor. Then use dyno oil for the first 1000 mils and then switch.

Stick to good oil. Don't use Royal Purple. Use mobile of valvoline. And no fram filters. Get Mobile filters or K&N filters too.

10w30 is fine. I use Royal Purple and NGK Iridiums. One SR has been running for 10 years and the other for 4 years with no issues.

Yeah 10w30 "should be fine". My car produces around 375whp and it puts my mind at ease using thicker oil's. I have seen to many spun bearing on SR's due to thin oils.

Go ahead and run 10w30 or pay close to the same price and run 10w40 have some peace of mind. And the Rottella stuff is actually pretty good. I know a 850hp wedge motor that runs it. Should be good to go.

I run rotella 1540, but you need to change the oil more often..Keeps my engine clean and happy. A good quality filter is a must.

I've put 140,000 miles on my SR (it came with about 60k on it out of the front clip back in 2005). The last 14k miles it was putting out 343whp/334wtq. I never ran ANYTHING but Royal Purple 10w40 oil and OE Nissan (or K&N filters when the dealer was out). Nothing but that, ever. Checked the compression before I pulled it for my motor build, perfect compression across the board. Took the engine apart, and the original bearings looked perfect (see picture below). With my new motor build, I'll be running Rotella 15w40 for the break in, and back to royal purple when it's ready for synthetic. Royal purple has the highest film strength in the industry, which is why I run it.

I dont know the part number off hand due to me recently switching to a filter relocation and oil cooler set up..but I run a napa gold filter at the moment, change my oil every couple months even though I only move my car a total of a mile or so, lol im a lil OCD about my hoopdy :yesnod ..OEM nissan really isn't any better then fram as far as Im concerned, but I also have not driven this car in a year..I would recommend an Amsoil filter if your driving this car, as I will be switching back to one as soon as mine is back on the road/track..got no license at the moment :gapteeth:

The oem filter is actually a decent filter. It has the anti-rain back (good for stock location and relocation kits that mount upside-down), and filters just as good if not better than other filters out there. Refer to my post above for bearings after 200k miles of abuse with an oe filter.

can i get some more feed back on the rotella oil? i run a t28 turbo on my red top sr20, and from what i heard THICK oil tends to restrict the flow to the turbo for cooling purposes. is this not true??? because i myself, would prefer to run thicker oil for, peace of mind aswell. i currently run 10w30 fully synthetic, or part synthetic oil in mine, which is what the previous owner ran aswell. but i was also thinking about royal purple....
