id worry more about getting that knock fixed before i go buying expensive fancy oil for my car. a running car is better than one stuck on the side of the road.

Its a mere typo dont give him a hard time.

Oil: If cleanliness is a concern for you run either Mobil Drive Clean or Valvoline Durablend.

With the 10w-30 being the most desirable in mild weather, unless its warm then 10w-40, or cold then 5w-30.

Fred..

I'd reccomend (along with the other) the Mobile 1 Drive Clean. I used it right after I swapped and seemed to do its job (somewhat improved the idle) because its supposed to 'condition seals, blah, blah, blah.' It came out pretty nasty, but not as nasty as my second oil change, so I guess I have to stand behind it. Before and now for my regular oil changes I used Castrol GTX. It ran well with my camaro, cadillac, and now my 240; and in magazine reviews it was one of (top 3) better motor oils for thermal breakdown, clesning, lubricating, etc.

Not sure if that was the question you were asking, but hey, information isn't a bad thing to have.

I've was running Valvoline Durablend and now Synpower. I've been very happy with both. I run 10w40 in the PA summers, 10w30 in the fall and then 5w30 once winter hits.

Welcome.

To me, oil brand doesn't matter as long as you change it every couple of thousand miles.

But then again.. I burn oil so I rather be burning cheap oil than Mobile 1 or Valvoline.

Amsoil 5w30 for non turbo.Amsoil 10w30 for turbo.

Ask Altiman94 had the liberty of taking apart my KA24DE he can tell you how clean that thing is and it's got 160k never been rebuilt. It doesn't chew a single drop of oil in between oil changes run's and idles perfect. If that's not enough for you to go with a good oil then well, just keep adding oil and don't bother.

Regular oil is ok if you change at regular intervals but the internals are dirty as a mofo when compared to an engine on synthetic.

Royal Purple blows in my transmission, barely goes in first gear from a dead stop, 5 gear grinds when shifting into above 60mph. Redline solved all these problems. VLSD works better with redline also.

I'd use 5w30 or possibly 5w40 synthetic. I don't think you'll want to be running 10w40 when temperatures drop below or approach 0°F. I think that would be pretty rough for cold starts.

I'm probably gonna run some 5w30 Synpower.

I just switched to Valvoline Max Life 10w-30, I had a good rebate offer on a case so I said, what the hell it won't hurt. I kid you not, I have expirienced a 3 mpg increase after running it for a couple weeks. I have been running it for about 2 months now. I have not done any other modification in the past 8 months or so that could be helping gas mileage either. I will keep you informed on the continued performance.
