Hey everyone,

Just got my G35 sedan 2 weeks ago. Looking for oil. Sorry to be THAT guy, but i really have searched high and low with no results. The manual states 5w-30 and 10w-30. i live in MD. we cross into 19degrees, once ayear. generally above 32degF. should i get 10w-30? what does everyone recommend?

Personal recommendation is Amsoil, Redline or Royal Purple 5w-30. I say full synthetic, and get a true full synthetic as well.

I'm suprised that you haven't found much as this topic has been discussed at length recently.

Some claim to go regular dino oil.

Most seem to have synthetic and enjoy better performance and less maintenance with it.

Amsoil, Royal Purple, and Mobile-1 are the favorites here.

Did you try a search for "can of worms" .Most use syn after the initial break in of there new car 6-15K. A few swear by traditional oil.

I use syn 5w-30 mobil 1.

Mobil 1 here From what I've heard, you can't go wrong with Royal Purple or Amsoil

From my research:

Royal Purple for Performance

Amsoil for longevity and fuel economy

Royal Purple uses carbon in their oil which can "fall-out" with prolonged use. The guys at Amsoil go for extended change intervals and fuel-economy instead.

Mobil 1 is cool, but I think the other two are more efficient.

Welcome to NICO

I use

and change it every 3k to 3.5k miles myself

My advise is as you break in your engine use 5w-30 and check it once a week.

Lots of opinions on everything on this site. we even have some miscreant Ford Mustang lovers but its a mostly friendly and fun group.

I just searched oil here in the G35 forum, got 57 threads. There's a synthetic oil thread right on page 1, at least it was when I posted this.

What I would do if I were you is use 10W-30 in the spring/summer/fall and when it starts to get close to the cold months, Dec-Feb, switch to 5W-30. But if you just bought it +1 for above statements.

Welcome aboard.

No worries... remain calm. If Joe or I thought you were up to something sneaky... you would have known really quickly.

Well here is more on maintenance & since she agrees with me on 3k mile oil changes here it is

Not sure what makes Jacqueline Mitchell qualified to write the article but maybe she is a G owner? If she's hot who cares.

that was on just regular maintenance, they don't even dip into the idea of using better that OEM quality parts for replacement, like synthetics.

yeah, thanks again. since i got the 05, i have driven about 1000 miles - a small family trip and just cruising!

but i am not gonig to wait to change the oil more than another 500 miles, because i am sure the dealer probably did not change it when they got it in on the lot..even if they did, i am not going to risk it..
