What oil for 2000 Pathfinder? Yes I know it's a dumb question.

I'm gonna change the oil on my girl's pathfinder. What weight oil is best? I'm guessing 10w/40? Sorry for the dumb question, just being lazy tonite.

I have a 2001 and live in SoCal; I use 5W-30 synthetic.

I agree, for normal driving conditions stick with 5W-30.

Either 5W30 or 10W30 is fine, dino or synthetic. If you anticipate you're going to drive somewhere below freezing on this oil change, go with 5W30. If you're staying in CA, either is good.

Switch to 10W40 dino oil if the Pathy has been leaking oil, it might help a bit. Otherwise stick to the weights above.

5W30 is better for common "clackity clack" nissan cold starts.... but the manual calls for either 5w30 or 10w30

I used to run 5w30 M1 Syn in my 01 & 03 Pathy 4x4's. as well as my 02 Max. It's now in our G's, daughter's 00 Max, and son's 02 Exploder.I try to get it on sale at Wallymart in the 5 qrt jugs for around $20Also, I have always used Nissan brand filters.
