I usually put the 87 in it. I have noticed no difference putting a higher octane fuel in. It is overkill on a stock KA.

i use 90 for the N/A KA. In my past experiences ive used 93 and it seemed like a down grade. Unleaded Plus sould be perfect for the KA (stock)

More Octane DOES NOT GIVE more power, it lets your engine REV higher w/o detonation.KA24DE is a truck engine and doesn't go over 5,500 rpm in most cases. Plus grade 91 is good enough.

But personally I put on 97. I don't drive a lot to notice the difference. I live 3 mins drive from work.

bs, it does not let you rev higher. i know a few honda friends that run 87-89 and hit 8K rpms daily."It might seem odd that fuels with higher octane ratings explode less easily, yet are popularly thought of as more powerful. The misunderstanding is caused by confusing the ability of the fuel to resist compression detonation as opposed to the ability of the fuel to burn (combustion). However, premium grades of petrol often contain more energy per litre due to the composition of the fuel as well as increased octane."it has everything to do with compression of said engine. you can run 87 all day on something with like 7.5:1 compression because there is less chance for the fuel to pre ignite than if said engine/car was running 14.2:1 compression.

im going to start running 89+ when i get my swap done(kade to kade)other ka ran like pure **** with anything below 89. hell i could bearly get her to the gas station on 87 without it wanting to stall out.

Well the 14:1 compression will certainly have detonation at 8k rpm with low octane, where it wouldn't with higher octane. That's what 'Let's you rev higher' meant, it's relative.
