Alright, I've posted this on 3 other boards, but being a new (or almost new) member to them, I didn't get a great response and got a little flaming because apparently they get these things a lot, even though I wasn't asking "Which is better?"

Anyway, my annoyance with how hard it is to establish a reputation on a new board aside, I'm looking for my next mod choice. This isn't a car specific thing, just a "What would YOU do?" (with evidence/explanation), so I think it belongs here.

I have a few options:A.Exhaust- http://www.vrsexhaust.com/VRS_....html 2.5in mandrel bent, nice sound (not farty).B. Unorthodox Ultra SS pulleys http://www.ptuning.com/html/It...entra and a stonger front strut bar OR a NISMO rear sway.C. Stiffer front strut (probably NISMO) AND NISMO rear sway, no power mods.D. Something I haven't thought of?

I'm also considering building a custom exhaust (though it will be almost identical to the unit I linked above), if it proves to be a good bit cheaper, and would thus allow another mod, probably suspension, I hope. I'm looking to spend a maximum of about 400$. Which means I'll definitely need some install help, but I think I can find that.

Sticky tires and suspension, for the love of GOD!!!

nothing will transform your car like sticky tires and high quality matched suspension components, to include struts, springs, sway bars, bushings, and various adjustable link arms.(depending on what's available for your model)

You don't need insanely stiff suspension, and stupid fat sway bars. In fact, the opposite would be ideal, matched pieces from a high end suspension manufacturer...

So my choice from your list is "C"

Call up the Hitman about doing exhaust.

And I'd be more than happy to help you with wrenching, advice, or even open the doors to the shop for late night work, if you weren't all the way in Hotlanta

Wow, you're the first person to shoot that way. I find it interesting that I come back and ask good 'ol NICO and I don't get any flames or any attitudes. Thanks!

I'd have to agree with tires, my suck, I can't hardly hang a turn with them. Krazy Skwerel's stock 240 will easily hold a turn better than my car now that he's got some good falkens on it.

mine likes to kick the rear end out a little, good or bad, I'm not sure....

Don't even get me started on tires... I hate my tires to no end and so does everyone else...

I like my falken ziex's really nice all weather tire. Also at a good price. I would definatly go suspension first. I am planning on throwing the ever classic eibach pro and agx adj. on my 240. Not sure whats good for the sentra.

Luckily your 240SX is not a heavy car so you have a much greater choice in tires than us Q45 er's do ( Michelin Pilots (Sports), SZ50EP)

As in light car tires Nitto's and Kumho ecsta supra 712 have been liked my locals with lighter cars than mine. After suspension, then tires, then brakes would be my order of business.

I agree with that generally, but my car needs more pull... remember, us lowly SR20DE guys only get 125whp stock...(about 130 now, yay!) and 121wtq... (also about 130 now, yay!). Even at 2674lbs, low rpm (say, below 2500) is somewhat painful... so maybe a little more engine? I dunno, I'm just stirring the pot to see what you guys say/think.

But with more power, and no increase in traction, what have you really gained? Just another advocate for sticky tires as the most important "mod" as it increases all capabilities: acceleration, braking, turning.

Stickies would be great, but I have a ton of tread left on these tires and I really don't think I can get a nice set of stickies for 300-400$, so I guess suspension is the next best thing... stiffer = less flexing = more contact patch = better everything, right? Now, where can I get the best deal on a stiffer front strut and a rear sway?

edit: check it out, and hey, its a sponsor! Would bushings serve me better (not really sure what they are, but I've heard they're REALLY useful...)?

if you're running a stock size, you can probably find a very nice set of tires at a good price.

what's your current tire size?

The oh-so-screwy 195-55-16... A truly good set of tires is going to be more than 300$. I might be able to get 2 for that price.

359 dollars shipped. Not bad for a really nice and proven tire.

232 dollars shipped. I am running a set of these on my 240sx and I really like them a lot. Good combo of tread life and they have good grip as well. Of course they arent as good as the azenis but they are a really nice all weather tire.

For me,if I could just get out of my uncles pignose which is my car for right now since I really don't want to buy it from him (salvage title) This is the order I am going in when I do get the oh so great RMS131.Suspension, lots of work there2.Wheels and Tires3.Brakes, rotors and calipers, everything4.Seats w/ harness and all5.some sort of body kit, do-luck, border, strawberry face conversion some japanese company that makes it look clean and not gaudy6. Engine swap and what ever else could be done to engineThis is all of course if money is readily available to spend, which i it probabaly won't, so im probabaly screwed in the long run. Also, some people have just asked the typical question of why dont you save for a swap, my answer, I know ill kill myself, even with a little horsepwer. Might as well work on turning so i can slide into a pole or something. Anyways, im going to go w/ smithsr and say C also.

A note on tires, I would say avoid the Yokohama Parada spec 2, of course, my brother and me arent too happy w/ them, but they are on 18" wheels, so thats probably why, Z rated, and we dont usaully go over 100 mph. They dont really last long either. We wanted some Azenis but, that was a no go b/c of us having 18" wheels, so now we know never to get 18" ever again.

First link doesn't work. Nice idea, wrong size (205/50R-15). I tried a 195/55-16 and guess what? No matches... Oh well, I like my 16's :)

it's a very small difference in size and isn't gonna be to noticable except looking at the back of the car and noticing wider tires, the height is a somewhat negligible difference and might affect your speedo by a few mph as far as accuracy.

they'll be a whole lot stickier though...

True, but he linked me to 15's, rather than 16's... I'll take a look, but what size would I look at? 205/55 or something?

Oh, and I forgot option E. Do nothing and be a few weeks (but only a few weeks) closer to JIC FLT-A1 coilovers this summer, and get the bars later anyway.

NTN - BRM makes a SWEET exhaust for your car, probably well within your price range...

I was about to ask for a link, but then I saw your sig! :D Okay, now I'm looking at the site and I see... no app. for my car, there is one for the SE-R/Spec V... and I guess if it would fit on my hangers it would fit my car... It's about the same price as the VRS/Magnaflow thing...

edit: Sorry guys, no Spec here, just an SE (SR20DE). But that means I don't have all the problems the Specs are having, yay!

As useful as tires are, I just can't justify them at this point. When it's dry my tires do well enough to handle the power I've got (LSD helps too), so I'll just stick with them for now.

In other news, we got my B&M in today. Throws are TINY, and it's got a real notchy feel, it's great. Finding 3rd is a bit rough, I'm used to having to do a slight lateral motion to get there, but now I hit between 3rd and 5th if I do that, so I have to push pretty much straight. Once I get used to that, it will be perfect. Anyway, it feels amazing, I can't get enough of it!

I should have a short page on the 6, yes, 6 hour install on my Cardomain area soon. 6 hours because we triple checked all of our work, had a few minor mistakes, and had to bend the heat-shield to keep it from rattling in 5th. Considering our experience level (second time modding a car, first was the 8 hour intake job, which was full of stupid), it wasn't bad at all, IMHO. Definitely worth every second!

Still taking suggestions on what's next?
