Where'd my custom title go? Is it gone forever?

Custom titles will come back, but they're not very high priority at the moment. We'll get to them once the important stuff is done. :)

Cool, I was just curious because it took me a good while to even notice.
Judging from my replacement of signature and avatar, nothing about my account (aside from posting ability) has been a high priority for me either.

Close your eyes.

WOOOO! Black theme! ;)

Seriously guys, thanks SO much for the feedback - this is helping a ton. The list is shrinking.

HOWEVER, please, please look through and see if your issue has already been brought up. If it has, it's on our list.

Bringing it up twice only confuses my pea brain. :)

We got a LOT accomplished last night. ObiWan is cranking on things today, Matt's pitching in, and Bex has been knocking out user permissions and password issues.

While you're waiting, UPDATE YOUR PROFILES! (I'm lookin' at you, frappy... ;) )

I think Rays brain is still frozen from when he rode around in his trans am with the top down this past winter.

As far as the site goes, great job!

This is a small thing, on some other sites I've seen a red corner to corner banner on a users avatar that says "online", might be nice to see when your posting if the member you're replying to in the thread is there.

Already discussed... removed for security reasons (plus it's a memory hog). :)

We had that the day the new software went up but it was removed due to privacy issues.

OK, so I assume from the rapid drop of this thread, that most of the stuff that needs fixing is getting better?

Hope so. We're tired. :)

It's been working quite well for me. You all have done an excellent job. Data migration is never an easy task.

The search still seems to be a bit sketchy for me though. Even if I search for ridiculously common words, I still only get a few hits. I was just looking for posts I remember reading about custom titles, and I think the search term "custom" only returned 3-4 results, even though I know in the last 2 days that word has been used upwards of 50 times. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, I'll check closer.

I dont meant to clutter up this thread, but may I ask why we have the image size limit on right now? It was fine without one before the switch. When we get the auto resize up (wich I dont like the idea of), at what size will it go into effect?

Most members on NICO have fast enough internet connections and good enough computers to handle lots of large images.

I love the content of nico, the members, ideas, etc. but I must say as a member of different forums, this is perhaps the worst designed one of them all. Even before the change, just the layout was an eyesore. I don't want to offend anyone and I'm sure the layout will keep improving.. I just find the design bland, blueish, grey, hard to read, and all over the place. Too many ads everywhere, way too many links, forums/sub-forums. Major gripe are the block of ads to the right that take half the space. I think u should simplify the layout, make it plain black and white. For ideas, look at houston-imports.com, everything there is legible and neatly organized. I dunno, just not enjoying browsing thru the forum at this point.

As far as I know, new skins are being developed so you will be able to have a choice.

houston imports site is all gray, bland, and hard to read IMO. The ads here are needed in order to pay for the site, bandwidth and sponsored events. The "blueish" colors will be gone soon, they are not a priority at this point.

I am super glad some one finally fixed this

Also the feature that allows you to see the thread in alphabetical order by name of the person who posted, saved me like 10 minutes of searching page by page of this thread for my old post.

Those of you who are dealing and fixing/improving NICO, I thank you. It looks and feels AWESOME!

(Possible) Fixes

I feel that we need to do something about these smileys. I think most feel that they stink and setting some customizable options for them would be sweet too.

I just reset all the color codes to match the prior NICO default scheme so at least things should look more normal for those who used default. Smileys are on my list of things to add, will start on those soon.

I just tried to PM someone, But it was unsuccessful. Is it because homeboy never turned the feature on or did he disable it so no pm will come to him? Still the no name in profile and No Location under username. I like both of these when trying to buy off someone here.

Is that the only way to send a PM? by composing it and putting the name there? I am hoping one day we can click on user name and a pm option will be there.

Yeah, it's not too bad. They need to step up the size of their font or bold.

All those other sites probably have something in common: They're smaller. Houston-Imports gets 1/1000th the amount of traffic, and probably costs $10 a year to run.

Ads here are unobtrusive, and the R hand block doesn't take up "half the space"... it's only 250px wide.

Too many links means there's a lot of forums. Lots of forums are necessary for lots of members. Nothing you can do about that.

We're continually fixing stuff, and I'm having to adjust to the new layout just like everyone else. Once you find your way around, it'll seem like home.

This.

Also, on old NICO when you clicked a link in a thread, it opened up in a new tab. Is there any way that could be brought back?

DISCLAIMER: I just got back today and don't know if any of this has been discussed and am too lazy to read the whole thread.
