Wow! I do almost all city driving and during the break in period I was averaging 19. Now that it's broken in I sometimes accelerate quick off the line and I'm still averaging 18.5. You must be driving it harder than you think. Or not shifting and driving at 3.5 rpm.Kazsmir wrote:Last two tanks were 15.2 and 15.7... I mostly drive city... very little highway. I have gotten high 16s and low 17s a few times... strange thing is, if I drive it more spiritedly than civilly, I get better mileage... last two fills I was trying to conserve a little... now I'm having more fun with it, and its back up in the 16s again...
I drive about 15 miles to work in the morning (mostly city, a little highway, but at slow speeds), then 5 miles home, all city...

I've heard that the VQ engine gets better mileage after it is worn in a little. (12,000-20,000 miles) Or so the dealer tells me.de5thelement wrote:please define "engine broken in" after 20k miles. i never heard of that for cars. thanks in advance. ps. i only have 1500 so far too
I've got almost 5000 miles on my G now... still getting ~16mpg city/hwy mix...rn79870 wrote:

With the G37 being such a new car, it is unlikely anyone has really put enough miles on one to wear it in enough to get to that point. I only have 1800 miles and my mileage isn't any better than you guys are reporting here. Time will tell.
They claimed the 37 would get better mpg than the 35. Doesn't seem that way. the mileage quoted here sounds pretty awful, given where we are with fuel prices and peak oil.joe603 wrote:Wow, the G37 seems to be thirstier than the G35. I get around 19-20 city 24-25 hwy.
I'm with Nick. I've been averaging 18.6 every tank. I drive 50/50 city/highway. 1500 on the odometer. I must not be driving as hard as everyone most of the time. Although I do like to sometimes hit the highway speed limit 1/4 down the on-ramp.nickthegreekG37 wrote:Hey all,
I must not be driving fast enough... I've gotten around 19 pretty consistently for my first 2000 miles, although at least half of that is no-traffic highway, cruising at 70-80 in 6th, so yeah.
CYO, your ride is sick. You get all that done in one fell swoop? Also, where'd you get the info on the 3 gallons thing... I'd love to believe that, but it seems a bit much. For some reason I was under the impression it was closer to 1...
