If it's the stock engine, its the KA24DE... the KA24DET was never a production engine, rather just a turbo added to the KA24DE hince the "T"..

Also, the KA and many other RWD 4cyl Nissan engines have the exhaust manifold on the drivers side.

KA24DE or KA24E, reason i ask is because when i try and find a turbo kit for the KA24DE all that comes up is 1995+ models..

Ok so now that i buy the car i find out it ISNT a 93 it's an 89 meaning i have the KA24E, so..Option A is buy a KA24DE because after doing homework on the motor i thought i was getting, im verry happy with the amount of performance parts available to it, Option B is to Build the KA24E (the motor only has 80k miles), but i havnt looked for parts for it much, is it worth it to spend any money on this motor at all, or just go for the ka24de swap.

If anyone has related links for KA24DE'S for sale besides ebay, please let me know.

P.S. Sorry for the retarded questions, ive been a honda guy for years dealing with type R's and frankinsteine motors, this is a big jump from small snapy 4 bangers to raw straight 4cyl turbo power. Just want to make sure im asking people that know the right answer.

they arent stupid questions, as long as you have basis and reason for your questions they are more than welcome. both motors are beasty with turbos. and both have outstanding potential.

best thing to do is well to do what your doing, get to know the engine well so that you know what to expect and what your limited too. a

lso when you get the car check that the body is in good condition and has minimal rust, you dont wanna build a car that can crumple under power. make sure its a good canidate for a turbo.

good luck and welcome to nico!

lmao, never herd it called a pig nose, but yeah, i guess it does look like one..ish....anywho, the comment about the body, i was actually SHOCKED to find the car was parked for 70% of it's life and was never drivin in the wisconsin winters...thank god, so this is the first 89 ive ever seen with no rust at all in the rear quater pannels, there is a small rust blemesh on the front fender, but i can care less because i want the s15 conversion bad...infact im getting it as soon as i slap a turbo under the hood....speaking of wich, any recomendations of places to pickup a turbo kit for the KA24E and any recomendations for the s15 conversion, thus far the only company i trust is http://www.extremedimensions.com BUT if anyone has any discrepencys with them please let me know before i drop 1700 bcuks on 1/16 inch fiberglass that turns to powder after one pebble on the high way.......

good find and minimal rust is the best you can have! question, how many miles are on the engine? if its on the higher end mark then you might wanna do a rebuild, but if it was sitting 70% of its life id imagine its low, mine only had 67k miles on it and that was a DE. before you start boosting, make sure that engine can handle being stock and if your good at engine work beef up the internals if you can. again good luck!

the engine only has 70k on her, for an 89...not to shaby, but yes i will be inspecting the internals soon, there is a bit of throttle response lagg and a bit a "slugeynes" (my own word) when you give some gass, my guess knowing this car history, the oil filter probly hasnt been changed in a while, and probly some old gas in it as well, i'll start with the usual tune up then really dig in if i feal the need..time will tell, but as far as making the ka24e turbo......only sight i have located was iap and i am NOT spending 4k on a stage1 turbo kit, thats physcho...however iap does give you lots of goodies that arent the usual stage 1 kit...so those with fat wallets....grats on the iap kit, as for me im looking 1500 max...for the kit, i understand i will have to suply her with more fuel to burn and exhaust...but i think 1500 is a fair price range for a starter kit, (turbo manny, turbo, piping, front mount IC, BOV....ect)

Help in this area would be much needed :D and thanks for all the help you guys are allready giving, NICO owns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
