Ok, I have a Red 1992 240sx SE Coupe 5-speed with alloy wheels and grey cloth interior. I also have HUD.

What modifications should I do to my car? Interior, Exterior, and Engine.

Name some please.

I have already Done all this:1. Removed sunroof visor.2. Removed mudflaps.3. Removed leather on shifter knob.4. cleaned it inside and out (not really a Mod)5. Removed air intake tube infront of air box.

Ok, thats all.

Here is what I already know that I want to do any probubly will do:1. Buy whole new engine for $500 instead of spndin $400 for whole new timing chain and install.2. Shifter boot (any suggestions on where to get one or hat type would be good)3. Shifter Handle (Nissan Maxima style)4. Steering wheel (or if anyone kows how to restore one, that would be cool)5. White face guages (If they make them for 240sx's with HUD)6. Lower car 2 inches.7. Home made air intake with K&N filter.8. Recover seats with black tweed (or... any other suggestions?)9. Gut cataytic convertor (should I?)10. Double tip muffler11. Header (if I can find one for $100 or under)12. New speakers (maybe)13. New tires (suggestions?)14. New hand brake cover (suggestions on where to find?)15. Cam (Only if u buy a new engine)16. Clear turn signal lights front and sides (where to find?)17. Paint front little grill thinks below turn signal lights black(Should I?)18. New front chin lip spoiler, black and like 3 inches tall(where do I get one?)19. 16" wheels for under $250 (what kind, where do I find some?)20. Remove gay Sticker pin striping.21. Remove all dents and dings for like $130 a body shop.22. Sand paint with 2000 grit and color wax. 23. 5" Autometer black face 8000 rpm tach w/Shift Light. (I already have this, I got it for Christmas, and didn't even have the car yet)24. All new bushings underneath for like $100.25. Royal Purple sunthetic oil in everything (If I get the new engine)26. Remove Gay trailer hitch on the back.27. NGK-R spark plugs.28. Spark plug wires (what kind?)29. Use 93 octane gas.30. Electric fan for engine instead of mechanical.31. Bore the throttle body (Does it have to be perfectly rounded, can I do it with a file or grinder?)32. Strut bar front.33. Strut bar rear (maybe)34. 3000gt adjustable exhaust system if it will fit.35. Remove rear seat (sometimes)36. New Console (out of paring out car of this forum if i can find one for a reasonable deal, email me if you have one. My dash and console are black as of now.)37. Adjustable rear trailing arms to eliminate wheel hop (where to get and what kind?)38. Valentine 1 radar detector.39. Laser Jammer.40. Police scanner (city version, not highway)41. G-Tech performance meter Pro- Competetion with PC Data link Software.42. 4 point roll bar (black)43. 44. 45. 46. 47. 48. 49. 50.

That is all I amplanning on doing for now, or at least what I can think of.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR SUGGESTIONS?

I have heard to advancec the timing 1/3 of the available range of the distributor, but what should I do?

ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD HELP ME OUT GREATLY. THANKS

E-mail me at wa2ku4u$aol.com, or post here, I check often.

First off you are asking for a tremendous amount of info all at once.

Take a look at others cars, see what they have done. Take smaller steps toward a bigger goal. Maybe use the search and read about what others have faced and done.

Looks like your on the right track.

Why are you asking people to tell you how to mod your car? It's your car do what you want. But all I can say from your list is it's going to be ricey.

Don't do any modifications that will be noticeable to the passer-by.

Keep all body panels, visible interior pieces in top notch OEM working order.

No need to draw attention to your car.

ok, i think there is a sticky on here for italian leather shift boots... i got one from there and it is sweet! Shift knob i would go for a sweet nismo leather one like myself (feels soooo good)

as for engine, i dont even know why you are asking us about it seems pretty much a no brainer to me. as for plugs and wires oem is just fine no need to spend the extra money on something that will do ya no good!

as for eliminating wheel hop do a search for subframe spacers. they should do the trick. as for bushings you will want to check your tc bushings seeing as how those seem to be the first to go. you can replace them with some whitelines available at pdm-racing.com or you can just replace the whole tc rod for an adjustable unit. sidenote: i have a set of whiteline tc bushings for sale if ya want em!

as for all that other misc ricer crap and whatnot you are thinking of doing to your car..... DONT!

p.s. how many miles is on this ka you can get for 500 bucks? got a number for me to call on it?

Novaguy,

You have one hell of a list there. I say take your time and research. My suggestion is suspension, rims tires to start with. If the timing chain has went, than the engine is of course a must. Doesn't do you any good if it don't run. And then I would go from there, slowly.

Get it running, and drive it for awhile. Then see what you think has to be done after that.

I dont understnd what is ricey about that, the car will look pretty much stock even with all of that, I will most likely not even have enough money for wheels, and I got the tach because I was planning on getting a supercharged 92 mustang. I just put the 93 octane gas thing in there as something to do to make it run little better, its not really a mod, but well... yea and i'm planning on putting on a custom intake with a k&n filter. Everything I have listed there is things that I have seen on all of YOUR CARS because I have been looking at this forum for the last year and listed everything useful that all of you have done. I wanted input like such as.. vlsd or an aluminum fuel rail, or cut the top speed limiter wire, bt thanks for the help anyways.

As for the mud flaps, they are in good condition, one of them is rippdat the bottom (about an inch long rip) but the rest are in very nice condition.

Ok. You did this backwards. You bought a car you obviously know very little about, when you obviously think you are some kind of enthusiast. WRONG.

It's taken me a good 6 months just to get me up to speed i'de call it, and I just got my 240 5 days ago. So you need to take some time, read some threads, use the search button, and LEARN.

I think you just do what you like to your car... get parts that you think that you will enjoy. If you are interested in a particular part, make a post about it and I'm sure someone can give you their reviews, opinions, ect.

The info you posted is a little too much for one thread... try searching around the board and see what other people are getting and why. Werd.

Every day after school and4 hours of basketball, i come home from 7-12 just sitting on the computer reading specs of the 240, mods that help, stories, and overall things that should be done fo preventative maintenance, so dont give me any crap about your 6 months of researching!I vebeen doin this since i was 12.

i never stop researching, and i'm nearly 24. Cars I have actually owned and worked on myself... 67 chevelle, 86 monte ss, 84 200sx turbo, 91 accord, 85 F-150 84 laser turbo, 67 barracuda, shall I go on? Each has a character and developing that character takes patience. Plan your build in stages, I hate to use this as a reference but look at the SCC project silvia. How many of us can afford to do all that at once? I say work out the suspension, then do brakes/wheels, and when it is ready, go for hp. stages lead to a clean, finished look. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

If you've been researching 240sx's for two years you should be asking such weird/pointless questions. Two years....heck you should know more than me (which isn't a lot).

I've been working on cars since I could walk ... and they are all pretty much the same once you start getting your hands dirty

it takes five mins to look up a cars specs....

it takes years of experience to pull them apart, maintain ..etc..
