I will be turning my current car in as its lease expires in late November. I'll be using my backup vehicle (1999 GM Jimmy) to get through the snow this winter, as it makes no sense to buy a new car in Michigan till next spring when the snow is gone. I'm targeting what to buy in the spring and have test driven everything I've considered worth checking out. Based on all of this, the clear number one contender currently is the G35 MT Coupe. Very good car, great value! My one concern is that I've heard that people are getting poor mpg with them (significantly worse than whats quoted by Infiniti). With gas prices the way they are, even with performance vehicles, I feel this is a consideration. At least "decent" gas mileage is critical, long term. I would appreciate hearing what kind of actual, every day mileage you guys are experiencing. Thanks.

Welcome to Nico.

I have an auto coupe and I get 27-28 mpg on the highway and 21-23 mpg daily.

I think it just depends on the driver and driving habits. I drive spiritied, but I don't beat the holly hell out of it every day.

Also do not be depressed when you get crappy gas mileage as the car is brand new... Things are still breaking in, and you will not reach peak mileage until you reach about 10k miles.

I just made a 400 mile trip in a 2006 G35 Coupe, AT and average 21 MPG running between 70 & 80. About 1K mile on engine. I am looking for better milage but I need to keep my foot of the Gas.

I'm at about 17.1 average, but I tend to be hard on the gas. I've been doing a small experiment to see how gas mileage is at different speeds using cruise control. It's bit difficult in Cali traffic to get a really good picture, but even 5 mph seems to make a significant difference. Though keeping the speed more constant has done wonders on this tank of gas so far. The VQ is pretty thirsty for gas, but that's the trade-off for power.

Driving style will significantly affect your MPG...I just installed a popcharger (cold air intake), and I’ve been winding the engine to hear the intake sound. Well, I got about 30 less miles to the tank (300). I'm sure if I can control my right foot, the car would get better MPG than stock.

Most forgot to take in account weather as well. All cars in colder climates will get worse gas mileage.
