So now that I've sold my BMW, im kinda itching for a new project...

Ideally, I'd like something that usually just needs more time and love than it does actual parts replacement.. Like for things if labor is outrageous but parts really arent a big deal, thats ideal!!

The E28 project was fun because it really was just more time than anything... I put only about $600 into it and 350 of that was wheels and tires, and I had a pretty nice running car..

ideally I'd like a smaller, "toyish" car... ideas?

Why not complete the 5 speed conversion or supercharger ideas you dreamed about for your Q for so long?

Well, there goes the S14 conversion.

Why not just detail the hell out of it? Remember the saying so clean you could eat off it?

Man I've considered the 240z project myself...those cars are so timeless and beautiful. The hard part is finding one that isn't a rustbucket...especially the paper thin floorboards. Those cars fall into a restoration realm more than a project though. Wes, how about something you can take to the track that handles well? A 3 series coupe...mid to late 90's? The only real caveats will be with electronics and expensive replacement parts. I've considered from a Corvette coupe to a gen 2 Mr2 to play with. I've owned a Fiat X1/9 and Fiero GT...both fun but unreliable....mr2 got it right for a mid engined toy. I still drool over the 8 series BMW coupe (840).....RWD v8 coupe with pop up lights...WOOT!!!!! I'm too afraid of the potential failure of a Nikasil lined motor in mid 90's eurocars...no likey sulphur in our fuel. Just go for something unique you don't see everyday. How about a 1989 or 1990 Supra Targa (post head gasket bolt mod). They can be had for a song and are reliable once cared for. I used to love the white nonturbo one of my ex mistakes had...very solid car and it handled great...lucky for her she had an exceptional rack as well...

I like the suggestions of a MKIII supra or MR2. I'd like to see what Wes could do with a 7M. Show all those whiners what the motor can really do.

If you can fit: Miata! Decent body integrity, light weight, and SO much potential. Find one with a bad transmission and go nuts. They're quite simple to work on.

Next option would be any 1980s G-body, Cutlass Regal or Monte Carlo.

No bloatmobiles! Hard to drive a float after one has had a real car. Need to ditch the solid axles on the Rover before it is too late, Jesda.

G-body's definitely not a bloatmobile. This was GM's midsize 2 door, weighed in at about 3500lb with turbo v6 powerplant options. They were good cars. Last of the purebred Chevelle/GTO/442 lineage before GM decided to move all it's prestigious names to mediocre front-drive platforms.
