hey guys.

im just about to install my wastegate and realized that i dont have any bolts with it. I know i need m8x1.25 but what grade do i need? At home depot anyway i didnt see any graded metric bolts, only imperial sizes.

what are you all using and where are you getting your bolts from?

thanksMarko

Unless your flange is threaded then use any bolt you want. I got some 1/4x1 1/2 on my wastegate with some washers. All stainless steel.

hmm i found stainless steel ones but do you think they are up to the task of not backing out or wearing out from the heat cycling and super high heat?

I've gone 10,000 miles and havent' had a problem yet. Except for when I used SS lock nuts. The nylon in the lock nut melted. Kept the bolt on.Was a pain to break them loose. I just use 1/4 bolt with 2 washers and lock washer and a nut. Besides it's shiny

sweet man. i just used a 30mm bolt with a lock washer (Both stainless). The flange on the manifold is threaded so it holds on now but do you think it would hold on better if i put a nut and a lock washer on top as well? (less chance of unscrewing itself i figure..)

On all my bolts I put a little gasket maker on the threads. Once I knew everything was right. Everything should be fine. No need for extra stuff. Just if you got it then why not use it.

Stainless should be okay, grade 8 is really what you should be using...

the thing is they dont grade metrics like they do imperial.. lowes has like grade 8.8 metrics but no 10.9 (which is the high grade metric)

but yeah stainless should be fine.. good call on using some gasket maker on em
