I had used petroleum jelly to lube my injector o-rings prior to installation, but the lower o-rings seem to keep failing me on two cylinders, which causes my car to running crappy. Is it the petroleum jelly that is causing this problem, if so what sort of lube should I use. I'm stumped, thanks.

Are they new o-rings? I'd just replace them. Petroleum jelly is the right thing to use, but they don't help keep things sealed as much as they do make the injectors easier to remove in the future.

Yes they are new o-rings,what would you recommend I use to keep them sealed really good. Is it possible my injectors are stuck open, is there some sort of test I can do to check there status.

make sure you dont tighten the caps too much

it only calls for 1-2ftlbs of torque

i just use a screw driver and finger tighten gently

I actually used di-electric grease, which has been working perfectly fine for me. Its what my machine shop guy reccomended so I'm pretty sure its the right thing to do... although its probably very similar to the petroleum jelly.

I just fill an oil container cap with engine oil and let the rings sit in it unil I need to put them on.

And I used the same stuff Foster did upon his recommendation. It's worked perfectly, no leaks (MSD 50's and PK fuel rail)

I used paintball gun oil, specifically designed to work with O-rings, and not dissolve rubber. so far so good.

Better to use di-electric or like PapaSmurf did, a lubricant made for rubber.Petroleum jelly is not recommended for rubber and soft plastics. It is absorbed by the rubber, causes it to swell and degrades it.
