ok, your car came with a long snout R200, the n/a Z32 and 240 sx's used a short snout r200, yes you can still swap the carrier into your housing so long as you retain your own gear set, but the problem is the viscous carrier uses unequal length output stubs so you'd need to swap to different stub axles, cv shafts, and companion flanges, the good news is the 88 300 zx ss came stock with a viscous so nissan makes output shafts, cv shafts and companion flanges for this fitment

and honestly the viscous is almost like having an open diff, I'n not a fan, the precision gear power brute is a great buy at about $600 brand new it's as strong or stronger than the stock CLSD's found in the 88-89 300ZX but for used ebay price you get a new one, and it's fits his Z31 or your S13 so you can share it

i thought the 87 - 89 turbos had the CLSD and the 88 ss had the Vlsd. But Good luck Finding one. It took me about a year to find a good one that didn't cost my left nut.

it was a midyear 87 addition that gave then the clad, the 88 ss AME with the viscous, the 90-96 z32 n/a as well as the j30, and the s14se came with vlsd's but only the z31 came in the long snout r200, the others got the newer short snout vlsd also found in the z33, the carrier still swaps I we but the housings and gear sets do not

FYI the power brute is NLA. The tooling was broken in a natural disaster. The compamy cannot justify re-tooling due to the low demand numbers of the r200 lsd.

bunk, a bud of mine got one after that rumor started, has everyone forgotten that the Z33 comes stock with an r200? and that quaiffe and cucco are still making r200 lsd's as well as precision gear, you can order then directly from precision gear, but be prepared to wait as they make them in lots, and if they don't have any now it might be a while before they make another run, you'll have to call them at alst check

I bought a short nose r200 out of a R32 skyline with 4:11....

and i have my long nose open r200...

You all are saying the internals out of the 4.11 will swap into my Z31 long nose diff? I just need different half shafts? i need some verbal assistance with this please..

The gears won't. You need the long shaft pinion. I'm not sure if the stock pinion in your diff will mesh with the ring gear from the 4.11. But the actual assembly should work just fine in the housing. You'll probably need different half shafts though.

the LSD carrier will work in your housing, but as az zbum pointed out the gears wil NOT, you'll have to take the ring gear form your long nose carrier and put it on the lsd carrier then install that carrier into the long nose housing, if you are putting it into an S30 you can put the short snout carrier in complete using the kit sold by modern motorsports, or just fab your own adapters
