Ok guys just wandering if any of you guys have a guess on what kinda power is needed to make an s13 run in the 10's?? I am finishing up my full built sr20det and hopping for around 500 rwhp, and just wandering if that will do it or if it can be done with less. I also would like to do it with full interior but will have some weight savings such as Aluminum sr20det block,Greddy intake manifold, Jgy pulley set, Windshield washer system, Front bumper support A/c system, Spare tire & jack I no its not alot can it be done??

id guess around 500-550 whp with good traction. traction is going to be a huge factor.

What kind of tires do you plan on running? What kind of traction bars?

Alot of that will depend on what engine you're running. In his case with an SR, yeah, 500 might be necessary because of the lack of torque.

V8 or bigger inline 6 engines will make more power under the curve and can do it with less than 500 wheel, but like you said, traction will make or break the ET.

i just plan on getting some 17" drag radials. considering MT streets or maybe bfg comps. no traction bars. im only hoping for 400whp and 11's for my setup. im pretty sure u can get 10's with nice DR's also. lots of people do. i see a lot of mustang guys do it

All good points. I believe a very responsive SR with a wide torque and hp curve (not peaky) will be able to get close... Gearing plays a huge part in ET's as well. Someone with a 4.3:1 rearend will run a lower ET than someone with the same power and a 4.1:1 rearend.

I would think 4-450 whp which is somewhere around 500 brake horsepower..I just got finish looking at a s13/rb26 with a gt35 topmounted making 455 whp. He broke a 10.6 1/4 mile time.

Forgot to mention very important factors such as weight and 60'. A good 60' can make or break you, but there are so many variables that come into play, you can never give a proper answer to this question without having quite a bit more information.

Ex: I ran a 12.1 @ 122 w/ a 2.0 60" and two weeks later ran a 11.8 @ 123 w/ a 1.82 60'...nothing else changed.

To be quite honest, with the trap speeds I'm running, it's very possible to run a 10 second pass (and that's under 400 whp on a Dyno Dynamics) with a killer 60' (~ 1.4). I've seen plenty of cars dip into the 10s with a 122-123 mph trap speed...they all just launched damn good.

I agree that it's all about the 60'. I ran an 11.95 @ 114mph with a 1.61 60' (only 342hp/334tq at the wheels in an SR20'd S13) I'm shooting for about 450whp with my new setup, and I'm going to try to get as close to the 10's as possible, lol. Shooting for 1.5X 60 fts as well, lol. 1.61 is just too slow...
