I'm looking for some advice from you guys as to what tires to get. I went to a friend of my body shop guy and he recommended the Federal Formoza FD2's since they fall in to my general price range (really I'm looking to spend a max of about $150 a tire) but I would like to see what everyone else has/has to say about this/their tires. I don't go crazy with my driving, mostly city and occasional highway. I'd rather stray away from overly aggressive tires, but I also would like something with some reliability. I'll take any advice and suggestions, though. :help:

I run Kumho Ecsta ASX tires and I've never had a problem with them. They're cheap and great tires, or so I believe they are. They seem to have good tread life, excellent grip in all conditions, and they're very quiet on the high way.

These are the the tires I was considering the next time I need a set, but I'm not sure yet.

Good luck either way!

Thanks for taking the time to respond to this thread man. Much appreciated. I believe I am going to go with Kuhmo tires, but I'm torn between the Asx's and the Lx Platinums. Looks like more research is needed. How long have you had your ASX's on for?

i have BFG's g-force sport (uhps) in 225/55/17 . i had them on my previous car which was a chevy malibu maxx v6 and i loved them. great traction in wet and dry, my biggest concern when looking for tires since i live in Fl is wet traction and these tires do a great job i believed, there were very few times where i felt a pull in the steering wheel when going through puddles and very little slip from med-hard accel in rain until they got really bald. dry grip is amazing and seems to get better as they get older. from my last exp i think theyre a good buy, quality, reliabilty and price/performance. i got ~35k on a summer tire which was 8k more than the crap uniroyal A/S tires i had before

I got 225/40/19 Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires. They got $700 for the set of 4. They look good and have amazing traction in heavy rain and snow.

+1 on the Continental DWS. I didn't know much about them until I installed them on my previous car (Accord) based only on online reviews.

Have tried numerous brands over the years and tended to lean toward Michelin but the DWS have been the best to date. They also make a DW version if snow is not a threat but no personal experience with them and now live in New England.

They will go on the Altima at 1st chance...

I picked up some Achilles ATR Sport tires for my new wheels, which should be coming in later this week. I've never heard of them before, but after browsing the web for reviews, I've been only impressed with finding little to no bad reviews - mostly for which are people complaining about bad traction in the snow, which doesn't matter to me being in the SoCal desert.

I picked them for $100.83/each from www.tires-easy.com, total came to $486 shipped to my door. Oh, and they're 245/40/19 all around. I will be giving a small review of them once I get them mounted & balanced.

Hey all. Thanks for the replies. I ended up going with the Kumho Ecsta Lx Platinum set. So far, so good. No complaints about noise, traction, or reliability just yet. :dblthumb:

I just switched back to Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires. I had had some problems with two of my first set of these tires early this year, and had ended up putting on a new set of Cooper RS3-A all-season high performance tires. They had good reviews from Consumer Reports and were a good bit less expensive than the Continentals. I saved the two good Conti's as they had very little wear and thought I might sell them on eBay. Well, I had a lot of issues with the Coopers, noisy and wobbly steering. Even thought my wheel bearings were shot, but the Infiniti dealer told me it was the tires.I put up with the harsh ride and not-great handling as long as I could. I had been driving long distances this past week nearly every day and was fed up with the way the car was riding. In desperation, this Tuesday I took the two Contis to my tire installation shop and asked them to swap them for the two front Coopers to see what difference it would make. Well, the difference was like night and day. MUCH BETTER ride and the steering felt solid again. You could still feel the bouncy ride in the rear of the car where the wheels still had the Copper RS3-A's. That evening I ordered two more Continentals from the Tire Rack and they were delivered to the shop today, and they worked me in for mounting and alignment check. Car is now riding and handling they way I remember when I first replaced my original equipment Bridgestones with the Contis. So much better! I'm sticking with Continentals unless something better comes along. Now I have a set of four Coopers to sell on eBay . . .

I've gone through 1 and 3/4s sets of the Falken ZE-512 240/45/18 (it's been a while). They were decently priced 2 years ago when I got the first set, and last September were up another $15-$20 nearing $180 or so.

The first set lasted barely 30,000 miles, which was better than the stock trash I had. They were grippy even in wet surface (again, miles ahead of stock tires), and also looked just right on my stock 18" wheels and ride height. However, and this is happening to my 2nd set now, which have 22k miles on them, right around 3-5k miles the tires started to get noisy. I found out that even rotating them every 3-5k miles they were getting "feathered" around the shoulders, as the tech put it. I researched this and it appears a lot of performance tires that are directional have this issue. So now they are noisy at all speeds, annoying to live with, and I am at the point now that I need to replace them asap (worn down to the wear bar).

I was looking for cheaper/better all season performance tires that aren't necessarily directional ("V" treads) or super high quality, just something that will last better and quieter. I also came across the Kuhmo Ecsta ASX, and General Tires GS-03 in the stock 235/45-18" size, so hopefully by this weekend I can get those put on and comment on them later.
