well, i finally got an alpine cd player for my 1990 240SX and found that all my speakers are blown. i know the speakers in the back are 4 by 6 , but what about the ones on the doors, i can't get the cover off and when i went to circuit city they said the ones on the doors are also 4 by 6. Are they right??????????

Yes, and you have to take the whole door panel off to get to the speakers.

taking the door off isn't hard. it's making the speakers fit.

has all the stuff you could want. It tells you what fits. I know for my 93 it's like 4x6 in the back and 4 in the front.

If you want high quality sound, I wouldn't suggest just getting something that fits since 4x6 or 6x9 or any oval shaped speakers produce questionable sound quality. Here is a forum that deals with car audio. The two most knowledgable guys on there are Glasswolf and Jonathon. If they reply to your post, trust what they say.

4x6 will stiill yield decent sound. My brother has some inifinitis I helped him install (they were originally mine), and sure there's some bass lacking, but they are plenty good. I couldn't imagine some focals or higher end boston acoustic sounding too bad in that configuration.

Well to be honest, I have high standards. Companies like Rainbow Audio, Dynaudio, and CDT are more my line of speakers. Even then, I choose their high-end stuff. The components I'm looking to get for my 240 will be around $1000 (only because its a 3-way set).

It's just all about what you like, best thing you can do is listen to other peoples stereos and find one you like.I really liked my friends car stereo so that's why I'm going with jl audio, 6.5" componet 2 way in the back, 4" coaxial for the front then a single 10" sub. I really liked the way his sounded and I don't think I could ever hear well enough to become an audiophile. What kind of amps are you giong to be running though yelnatsch?

if you dont want to spend alot. i got some nice infinity speakers, i forget what they are called, but i spent like $200 for a pair and the sub and tweater are seperated, they are like one of the best sounds 4x6 speakers apperntly on the market with out going into coponets.

I am planning on going with Zapco amps. A bit on the expensive side, but should match well with my speakers.

Yeah, 6.5 will fit the rears definitely!

Zapco's not too bad price wise, plus if it fits, it fits so it be worth the money. No sense buying a crappy amp and having your loudest volume a whisper before you get some distortion. Zapco, that name just sounds funny to me, just a weird word. Zapco, reminds me of the old little toy laser guns. lol, oh well, good luck with your stereo set up. I'm slowly trying to convince my mom to let me spend my college money on my car. If I'm lucky I'll have the stereo done by the beginning of summer, just in time to let the car sit in my yard for a few months.

A set of 6.5" components will fit in the doors, just watch your mounting depth so they don't interfere w/ the windows.

There ya go. PM me if you're interested in a step-by-step.

yeah those 6.5" door panels are nice, but i ghettoed mine and im pretty happy with what ive got.

infinity 4x6's in the doors, and i "custom" rigged some 6.5"s in the back in the stock location. sounds good enough for me, but i could add a small sub to get some of that funk master flex "thump."
