by check, do you mean a lab analysis of the oil or just looking at the color? The lab analysis is really the only way to know what the oil properties are. I sent analysis to Blackstone to pin down the interval on another car.

PS: I know that Royal Purple is expensive and typically used in high performance engines (hate to break the news, but the Versa engine is not high performance) , but my personal opinion is that there are plenty of other oils that are cheaper, also synthetic and are good for 10k plus. Fred

I personally don't think it matters WHAT oil you use, just that it gets changed regularly. My Miata did 190K on whatever 10W30 was on sale at Walmart, and an Omni that I used to have was on its way to 250K using whatever was cheapest. As long as you change it every 3-4000 miles, and use GOOD filters you'll be fine. I think everybody here has a different opinion on this subject, I bet 50% of all posts on car forums are about oil change intervals.

fully agree!!! I personally think you can push your interval to 5 k with conventional oil with no problem with modern oils, but I think this is a subject that gets "over thought". I use ExxonMobil products just because I work for them; no other reason. Fred
