What kind of oil and filter does everyone run here?

Just wondering. My SS came from SLP, who builds the SS's, with the Castrol Syntec Package, which meant every fluid in the car was Castrol Synthetic. I only ran that junk in the car for 500 miles, just to let it break in. I then switched over to Mobil 1, because that is what I used in all my previous F-bodies, and had great luck with it. I had been doing alot of reading, and read several good things about teh Vlavoline Synthetic, so I gave it a shot, and picked up almost 10psi of oil pressure @WOT! Needless to say, I'm still running the Valvoline in the SS. I've always ran an AC Delco filter though. The transmission and rear-end have Redline.

Now, onto the 240. It's a 93' auto car that my wife drives approx. 50 miles roundtrip, everyday. The previous owner had been using Havoline conventional oil, and just a cheap filter. I'm about to change the oil and filter, and was wondering what the majority of most people here are using.

Thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

valvoline or mobile 1 baby, synthetic all the way. If the car has high miles the valvoline high milage would probably work fine. As for filters, AC Delco, Bosch, and Mobile 1 are my favs.

Ive only used mobil 1 synthetics and oem filters in my car since I got it in Nov of 99' with 28k on it, and I now have 112k. Even with the daily abuse, it runs as good as when I got it only alot faster and the ride is sometimes harsh

Mobil 1 synthetic 5w30 in the cooler months and 10w30 anytime else with nissan oem filter for the engine.

Mobil 1 synthetic atf fluid and nissan filter for the transmission.

And mobil 1 synthetic 75w-90 in the rear.

I did run mobil one in the crank-case and probably will go back to that..Im not sure. on the filter issue, I run nissan OE only.-chet

Castrol gtx high milage seems to work great for me, I always use bosch filters! 148k and running strong I use redline for the transmission and rear end

Once Iam done rebuilding, I will start using castrol, I used penzoil before and after taking the car apart, some of the pennzoil seemed to... how should I say this.. burn onto the part. I had the block and head all hot tanked to remove all that and cleaned everything up good, so hopefully the Catrol wont do what the pennzoil did. I like fram filters, cause they have the grip handle

I have a special discount with one of the parts guys at my local Nissan dealership. So I can't go wrong with an OEM Nissan filter and Redline oil.

Mobil 1 and fram filter. Using cheap chevron oil right now for the break-in. (NEVER use synthetic for break ins.)

Fram oil filters are crap. Putting nice sythetic in with a fram filter is kinda gay in my opinion. Spend some extra cash on a decent filter, you all ready are using good oil, why not keep the oil good by using a decent filter =) Just my opinion.

fram filters work fine in my opinion. i change my oil every 3000 miles and my oil is barely ever dirty. I have cut up countless fram filters and thier element seems fine in design and operation. I am very anal retentive about oil changes. If i dont even get 3 thousand miles in 3 months, i change the oil. I have 4 cars, so i buy oil by the case.

I use royal purple all the way aroumd it's expensive but it works like a charm. I also use a pennzoil filter and i have perfectly clean oil every time.
