You gotta be more open minded, dude. I come from both sides of the story, because i have loved a ton of different music.

I used to LOVE fake punk (GC stuff), then i was really into metal, then really into hardcore, ive been really into REAL punk for a while, i was also a complete ska freak at one time (its still badass, to me), i was really into black metal, death metal, i used to love really "hardcore ghetto gangsta" rap, i like classic rock, and i like older underground rap. Hell, i even used to love the freakin Baha Men, and Aaron Carter's "I want Candy".

Sure, as much as i currently hate metal, there is still a lot of metal bands that i can respect, and say that they are good, even though the style of music doesnt tickle my fancy.

Basicly, what im saying is, before you generalize that all rap is crap, youve gotta realize that there is some good rap out there.

Thats like me generalizing that rock sucks, because i hate Emo. Does that mean classic rock, and ska suck? No it doesnt.

Sorry if i seam like an ***, its just that i know a lot of closed minded people, and their ignorance twards certain things is just annoying.

The same way its annoying when people sterotype auto enthusiasts, who prefer imports, as "ricers".

[/end rant]

A poll isn't appropriate for this topic as hardly anyone listens to one type of music.

Check out Pelican (instrumenatl), Neurosis and Isis. Maybe you'll like 'em maybe you won't. Worth a shot.

iwantans13 wrote:Point taken. I was just being a Dbag there for a second. Sorry if I offended anyone. But as far as good metal bands it depends on what kind of metal you want. If youre into crazy guitar solos Id check out trivium, dragonforce or shadows fall. If its harccore you like, look at winter solstice, atreyu, as I lay dying, underoath or norma jean. If you want some of the more popular stuff, Avenged Sevenfold, Eighteen visions or Lamb of god is great. For some of the darker european stuff, children of bodom, opeth or In Flames. For some of the just straight up crazy metal you can look at between the buried and me, strapping young lad or converge. Hope that helped
Wow Im quite impressed that you are into Winter Solstice. They are an amazing band and its rare when I find anyone that is a big fan.

I find that I go through phases. I grew up listening to hip hop, then got into other types of music (hence the name) but now I find myself listening primarily to hip hop again. Can't really dance to alternative/ pop rock anyway.

My all time favorite is classic rock. Stones, Zeppelin, Floyd, Allman Bros., KISS, etc. I like a little rap, but prefer classic rock.

Hardcore, punk, some ska, indie, rap/hiphop, some metal.

Real hardcore, none of this scene-destroying nonsense that is out today.

New Shai Hulud album out this spring (one of the bands that pioneered metalcore).

New H2O album this spring (old school style hardcore)

Ever since i was young i have listened to rap. I'm finally starting to ween away because of the lack of good music coming from the genre. So now i'm listening to a very diverse playlist. Old rock. Old(er) rap. And things most in between.

Atmosphere is what I'm listening to at the moment.
