Just wondering what everyone's getting these days with broken in engines. I normally get 23-24 but was amazed to see almost 28 on a recent trip with highway speeds.

What does everybody else get?

I get 20-21 in the city. I hardly get on highway, but I think I used to get like 25. I think your engine has been maintained pretty good.

yeah, usually high 20's - even with the top down...

on my honey moon (road trip to the outerbanks, north carolina from michigan and back), we got around 28mpg with the top up on the highway, about 25mpg with the top down and windows up on the highway, and around 22 mpg in towns, cities with top up or down.

engine had around 210k miles on it too.

I wonder how far the needle is buried and how long it took to come off 110...

On the way back from picking it up, all highway I got right at 30mpg. Seems like 21-22 in city.

Definately less mileage than my coupe, can feel the extra weight.

What engine did you do the cam swap on? With that good a mileage I'm assuming that it's a KA yes?

yeah its a ka. i took the exhaust cam off another ka and put it on my intake side. i did it with help of course. and then my friend drilled a spot in a cam gear to set the timing a little better. major difference. i guess a side effect is also better gas mileage if im not full on the throttle.

my experience in the last couple months has been 23-24 in town, and 28-29 hiway speeds (60 mph or so. little less if 75). 73,000 miles now. what kind of mileage do you get with that engine you are sitting on???

He's strictly a one horsepower without mods and gets about 50 miles per bucket of sweet feed. He leaks a little but is worth the upkeep.

I forgot that I used to run 225 all the way around, and now I'm running 235s. I remember now. When I went for wider tires, gas mileage dropped a little. I think I used get good mileage when I had stock size tires.

OH!!! COME ON!!!How can you maintain gas mileage that high???? Did you have 5 speed swap done? Cuz mine's still auto.

Just drove back from the beach (73 degrees here in NC in late November ) and got close to 30 MPG! I'm running 205's all around.

i don't know engine ran great and i maintained it well. i had fresh plugs, cap & rotor, clean injectors, new water pump, synthetic oil. the sportmax 962's are pretty light for the size they are - so that helped too.

we were driving 6-10 hours a day and usually doing about 70-80mph.

still running the slush box.

Okay. Maybe it's time for me to seafoam my engine.

hold on a second... i just want to make sure you know that the 255 and 205 are my tire widths and not what i'm claiming for my gas mileage... you knew that right? i'm just catching a vibe that maybe someone thought there was sarcasm where there was not...

Yup! I got it right. No worries. BTW, your staggered setup is too much. There's no way you feel neutral with that setup. Did it work okay for you? 255 is pretty wide for s13 rear. I would go up to 245.
