The SSAutochrome manifolds have had a bad reputation, but I've heard a few folks say that the quality has improved recently. Search around for SSAutochrome here on NICO.

I know WDRacing had a bad experience with the top mount, but I'm not sure if anyone here has used the bottom mount yet. I think I'll probably get one and store it away for my KA-T project. The way I figure, if it cracks at least it'll be cheap.

There is one guy on FA who blames a self-destructing manifold for ruining an otherwise good turbo. There's always a trade off...that's risk management in action.

I can't think of any bottom mount KA manifolds that fit a T25 other than a much more expensive (and probably better made) piece by Wasabi Garage.

There've been some impressive results from that tiny little T25 on the KA, which is really surprising to me. Shouldn't be hard to find one considering the SR guys will be using them as paper weights after they upgrade.

I got shipped a bottom mount by mistake, it was way better quality then the top mount I recieved later...3 months later. The collector is a mess on the top mounts, ports are all small and the welds are....junk at best. I'm not nuclear certified for welding or anything, but I know quality from crap.

By the way, incase you don't have the T25 yet, go with the GT2835R. Its a way better turbo. I know a guy making 430whp on his RB20 with that turbo.

WD, I'm thinking of matching an SSAutochrome bottom mount with an S15 turbo. Am I correct in assuming that the compressor map for the S15 turbo is the same as the GT28R, or at least very close.

My goal is modest power (I'd be happy with 230hp at the wheels) and very linear power delivery. I'm not shooting for 300hp and massive top end. I suppose my inspiration on this was the Dodge SRT-4 which uses a tiny little Mitsu turbo and yet has good power that comes on REAL fast.

I'm assuming that since the S13 chassis is the same and presumably the SSA mani puts the turbo in the same place as it would be on the SR I could use an SR hotpipe, downpipe, and intercooler kit.

Do you think the SR cold pipe would work or would some modifcation be required?

Also, for my relatively modest goals I thought the OE internal wastegate would be sufficient, do you think this is correct?

Thanks, man! I think silviasxdrifter and a few other here are all kind of thinking up similar plans.

The opportunity to use a bottom mount (which should simplify plumbing and have a bit of a stealth look to it) and take advantage of the huge SR aftermarket is very tempting indeed.

I dunno if the Sr piping will be a direct bolt in for sure or not. It'll probably be close enough to just requirre some minor teweaks, but you'll never know till you've paid for it already.

The GT28R is a decent turbo, for 300whp and below it should work just fine. Much more then that and your just gonna have a heat pump.

Assuming that a GT28R is going to perform close, if not the same as an S15 turbo, would you anticipate that I'd get 230-250hp at the wheels along with very linear power delivery and really quick spool up?

As for fitment, I was puzzling this out today while I was supposed to be working.

An SR bolts in to an DOHC S13 chassis without modifcation, correct? So, if the SSA manifold puts the S15 turbo exactly where it would be in an SR swapped car, then there shouldn't be a problem with downpipe or the hotpipe.

The only problem, I've been informed, would be that the cold pipe would need to be fabbed/modded as the SR throttle body is positioned differently than the KA one.

Sound reasonable?
