Lets just say the KA isn’t the most efficient motor out there

if you want high mpg get a Honda

if you want torque get a 240

note: I get 19-20 in the city23-24 on the highway all on 87 heavy driving

i get around 23-25mpg. i divide the number of miles i got from my odometer by the # of gallons i fill up. using 87 octane. i have a 95 5spd

I average about 22mpg in my '92, and that's with a slightly heavy foot. If I nurse the hell out of it, I can squeeze about 26mpg, but that's no fun. :)

I get about 15-20 in the city, depending on how I'm driving. 25-30 on the highway.

gas tank capacity = 16 gallons. For me though it's at 15.8 because of a dent the mf'in previous owner put in it.

Hey there, I fill up with 92 octane and I put about 12.5 gallons in the tank from below the empty mark, last tank I got 32 mpg w/ a mix of city and highway, full city on 87 I usually get about 27, if you shift at 3k you will be just fine. You can check out my modifications in my sig but I was getting 26 in the city before the exhaust. Just don't accelerate hard.

Wow, you guys must really have heavy feet :pface In my '89 240 5sp I easily got 25-27 mpg. I always stay in the higest gear possible for my speed and rarely break the 3k RPM barrier. If I get a wild hair or someone bugs me then leaving them behind is a downshift and a gas stomp away so I don't really feel like I'm driving slow, just saving money. :)

This is stop and go light to light traffic as well, mind you.

yea i could prolly easily get 400m out of a full tank, i went to my managers house for a party once, a good 40 miles away, and i didnt even move my gas needle, but then again, it was raining hard and my car likes to kick out in the rain, so going 55 on the highway was kinda fun, esp with the high winds

i have an 89 with 220k on it, about 130k or so on motor, drove from louisiana to cleveland and back in 3 days. got 34 MPG the entire 2460 mile trip on 87 octane. Normally i probably get 24-28, i drive with a very heavy foot, and shift kinda high, 3500-4000 normally, 6200 when i get pissed.

yea, it is, ever drive a granny driven car and find it wayyyy sluggish? I usually end up coming close to it at least once a day, although i've blown it away twice, anyone else have a ka that hit 8000 stock and lived to tell about it?

At highway speeds you actually get higher gas mileage with the A/C on than with the A/C off and windows open because of the drag. Intresting tidbit eh?:)

I get about 18mpg...just put in a 300ZX fuel filter and I think my mileage went up about 2mpg. I've used a tank and a half so far, so I'm hoping my average over next few tanks will prove that my mileage did go up.

I drive about 100-150 miles a day, and I calucalted with gas prices they way they are now it costs me approx 10 cent's per mile just in gas. I'm filling my tank up 2-3 times a week at $30 a pop, after switching to middle grade, and sometimes even regular when I'm low on funds. It's very painful heh.

On my rebuilt KA, I was using 89 octane, and because my car is *STRICTLY* an around town car, I was getting around 20 MPG, or a little less. I switched to 87 octane to see what would happen (and I was starting to believe that the rebuild didn't require 89), and my gas mileage went up to around 22-23 MPG around town again, and my foot is and always has been made out of lead. :-) I normally shift around 2,500-2,750 RPMs, but I am quite agressive on a few roads on my way home from work each day too, so, it balances out, heh. Numbers are with 5W-30 or 10W-30 oil (non-synthetic, for now), with what was a Fram filter, and since changed to something better (Purolator). Detailed enough?

Purolator's superior to Fram?
