Go with what the manual says minimally. Perhaps a synthetic if you want to spend a bit of extra dough once the engine is broken in.

Changing it frequently is much more important than the brand or type [assuming correct viscosity]...............because the sump volume and filter are so very small. All quality oils must last running 65 hours extreme heat test. ~~~4,000 miles however some average quality oil may evaporate up to 15% in such a test.............that's 3/4 quart.

ALWAYS CHECK THE OIL LEVEL WEEKLY until you are positive that you haven't gotten a heavy oil user [weak ring tension] seems more common than the previous designs [1985-2001].............running low of oil starts a serious cascade of events and isn't covered by warranty.

Full synthetics can function better at temperature extremes and may extend the engine life of the performance at some extreme mileage.

The question is how do you want the engine to perform at 200,000 or 300,000 miles?

I agree with Q 45. Changing your oil every 3 to 4 thousand miles is the best way to get to a few hundred thousand miles. I use 10w30 whatever is on sale. I change it myself with a new infinity Oil filter. When the weather here in NJ gets too cold, I might then let Infinity do it once. I just changed the oil again for the 4th time with 11.500 miles on my G35 6sp manual last week. I'll do it again in Dec and hope I can make it to March by which time the weather is warmer.

Hello, new 2006 G35 Coupe owner...question, will I void warranty by changing oil through other than Infiniti?

Thanks in advance,

Oil changes are fine to do at places other than the dealer. No warranty problems!

However, be careful at some of the "quickie" oil change places. They take shortcuts ... My recommendation is "do it yourself" ... it is not tough.
