I'm debating between the AEM Tru-Boost and the GReddy PRofec B Type-S + boost gage. Either way your looking at around $300 :-\

I am running a first gen HKS EVC that I picked up for cheap.

It's really nice except for one thing. The dials to adjust the high/low boost settings are on the back of the control unit. But, it has 3 modes of boost,high/low/manual. I have mine on manual as I just have a stock turbo and I love it. Boost response is much better now too. I do get a little bit of boost creep at high rpms but I don't get up that high to often.

Over all, I would rate it at 7/10.

im running an AVC-R. 15psi on the stock turbo (25). ive only driven it for about 100 miles so far, but i know the turbo isnt going to last forever at that boost level . ill probably be looking for an internally gated GT30 in a few months. something im somwhat looking forward to already. im running map sensor, so when she does go, i can still drive her home.

i did put down 305whp and 315 torque on a dynapack though. it runs good, too bad its back at the shop getting the rest of the **** completed.

I've used a HKS evc IV and a greddy profec B.

I hate the greddy profec B, it takes for ever to tune and the instructions suck.

I like the HKS evc IV, it has a self learning mode that learns your boost curve and is easy to tune. One button push for low and one for high boost, an audio over boost warning and it will automatically drop down to a safe boost level if you run too far over your selected boost level .

Greddy Profec A.

I had it in my other car, and it brings on boost MUCH faster.

using an old greddy profec-b. it rocksRustbucket, are you talking about the original profec-b or the profec-b type-s? i've heard people complain about the types, but the original works almost like a manual controller, except you have the "gain" setting too which controlls actuator response. i have mine set now where it holds boost to .8bar and is fully open by .9bar. where the stock setup would crack the wastegate at .5bar or so.I love the controller, its easy to setup, easy to use and works flawlessly.

Im running the Joe P. as well. Its been on there for about a year and a half and its never overboosted or creeped. I really like it for a manual boost controller.

I switched from the Greddy Profec B to the integrated PowerFC controller. I'm a much happier person now. Mainly cuz the Greddy was too complicated for a device that just opens a wastegate. Plus I like not having a bunch of gadgets in my car.

Plus, since the PowerFC controller works with the ECU, it will cut spark if boost creeps too high. I found that out when I bought a heavier wastgate actuator and hadn't turned the boost up yet.

people, are you talking about the original spec-b or the spec-b type-s? the type-s i can see as being a bit of a headache, but the original i think is just about flawless. please be more specific in your posts

Sorry, I meant I switched from the Greddy E-01 to PowerFC controller.

E-01 was way too complicated.

I had a buddy of mine with a eclipse GST that hammered his internal WG to make it hit 20lbs... Craziest/dumbest thing I have ever participated in... Held boost fine tho...

Do these ever pop up on Ebay? I hear they are awesome, or should I just go with the PRofec B type-S? (the one without the digital gage on the front.)

Suicide Knob FTW.

(aka manual boost controller)

but I'm buying a greddy e-manage ultimate soon, so i'm sure i'll play with that for awhile and maybe get that profec e-01.
