It's generally a good idea to run the biggest and most CCA battery you can fit in any car especially a lux car with many power hungry features..

It's not a super urgent thing but going to a bigger battery is something worthwhile sooner or later.

Weak batteries work the (expensive) alternator harder.

But if your battery is only slightly smaller, than what u suspect is normal, I wouldnt worry too much, battery's have increased their power desnity a little bit in recent years.

Even so I always run the biggest one I can fit.

It doesn't have to be a special battery as long as it is strong and a name brand, regardless from where.

In the old days tye Nissan OEM batteries used ot ahve a real edge on aftermarket.

But I think just go ahead and get a good strong hi CCA battery.Any Parts store will do.

One battery design to avoid is the one with teh extra outlets on the side.

Since you are only using the regular outlets the extra are just one more possibility for leaks. But like everything else even that is not an absolute rule.

If you find a good price on a hi CCA (say 900 and up) battery that fits, go with that one. Some battery brands are better than others so its probably best to go with a name brand.

What CCA does your current one have? 575,675? or?

I agree with palmerwmd... if you have no use for extra battery terminals, don't get that kind of battery.

One also increases the risk of shorting-out the battery during repair/maintenance with more terminals (disconnected or not). Not fun.

Optima batteries are pricey, but nice. Their design leaves low-risk for leaks.

fredim not a battery man, but the small *** battery is an interstate brand, and it has both 575 and 675 numbers on them.

i dont know what's up.it is something i have to change since the q has so much electronic stuff running thru its vein.

Most batteries show 2 numbers with the lower one being the cold cranking amps.So you battery has 575 CCA, pretty low ofr a V8 w/ lots of electrical.

Your sense of needing/wanting a bigger one was right.

okay so i contacted the interstate battery direct and gae them the specifics of my battery that looked too small.

they said it is the right battery for my car, he also mentioned that using higher cca battery can malfunction in hot climate like LA.

so i will stick with this battery for a while, it's still new.

The "factory #'s battery for the Q are indeed surprisingly small.

How ever a higher amperage battery is not going to malfunction at any greater rate than any other battery, if anything less)

Given that you live in LA a bigger battery indeed does not have to be the highest priority for you.But moist liek to put in teh biggest they can find and there are many good reasons for that.

But since u live in LA, you dont need it as badly as some and if you are on a buf=dget as most are you can wait until your current batery is going downhill for a new one.

Battery's are taxed a lot in our cars (hi underhood temps also).
