a 1975 REPU, and you want to swap a nissan engine into it????

If it's a factory fitted rotary engine, it's worth keeping/selling as is.Those things are RARE!

My second car is a 1968 mini, looks like one of these...

They definitely are rare as are the rotaries than come in them (normally aspirated 6 port, all other 6 ports are turbo only) but the rotary was blown. It would have been a fun project to build up the rotary but for what I want with the truck, the Nissan engine will work better.

The biggest reason I'm doing it though... even though they are very rare, they aren't worth a whole lot surprisingly. If it was worth more I would have most definitely restored it and rebuilt the rotary.

I've got a bulletproof old Chevy pickup (4x4 with a small 305 v8). 230,000 miles and runs like a top. It yanks the boat and hauls the trash. My other vehicle was made in Everett Washington and hauls the a$$.

Nice Zs! The Z31 is so underappreciated, and I hope it stays that way to keep resale low so I can buy one or two.

It's currently...dead. It will reside in my garage until I have time to swap in another engine. And then I will have a dilemma - keep the Q or keep the Impreza? I do miss the featherweightiness and absolute chuckability of the Impreza, but the comfortable cruiser Q is nice too. Dammit.

Jesda, The value of the z31 seems to actually be going up. If you are going to grab a few, better do it before too long. Many of them have found their way into trees and junk yards and wherever else.

Satan,

I have a 1984 300ZX that I bought brand new. I couldn't get the Turbo as I was only 23 and the insurance in 1984 was $5,000 even with my clean driving record! Well I still have it, not heavily modified save suspension which is not radical with Eibach springs, KYB shocks, Addco sway bars and bushings and the stereo sysetm which is Kenwood head unit, kenwood speakers (they were top-of-the-line when I got them), Alpline V12 400 watt amp and a large buzka tube connected to a 120 watt V12 bridged amp. The motor has 160k original miles, transmission rebuilt in 1992. Not a daily driver anymore but I love the car still as much as when I bought it. If I had room I'd score another one do what you did to you 85 and make a 400HP version.

I am not sure if they car will ever see cult status in terms of resale but there are tons of them that are completely trashed, many in the junk yard and there are fewer and fewer clean copies out there. It breaks my heart when I see rusted out ones with the rears sinking unde original stock shocks and springs.

I also have (as you see in sign line) a 2005 X-Terra 4x4 and the wife drives a 99" sentra.

A nice convertible is good to have, especially on a nice bright sunny day. You guys down there in Texas get quite a few of those!

85 vw golf 1.6D

Diesel Baby!!!!!

average 45-55 mpg, and always over 600 miles per tank. well almost always. if i keep it to the floor all the way to my destination i can watch the gas gauge sink, kinda like the Q at any speeds over 100!

down side...44hp.........its geared out very well, but getting on the highway on an incline is embarasing to say the least.

up side!!! SOOT...lots and lost of soot!!!

and i get gas for free!!! cant beat that with a stick!!!

i got a good deal on suspension parts when i bought it, ( 500 bucks, not running, $12 ignition switch!) non of which helps out milage but who cares when your running free gas!

upper strut barlower strut barcaber plates front and reartokio illumina adj. shocksi think eibach 2" drop springsover sized sway bars front n backrear stut bar full recaro interior!16 " rims with hancook rubber10,000k hi/low hids

it only goes about 85 flat land, but i can take any corner at 85!

im waiting to find a 2 door and swap everything in there.

anybody got one cheap!!!

Everyone should have a truck to haul the Q home when the fuel system fails.

Man, that is awesome! You should hop on over to z31peformance.com or 88hybrid.com some time. There are a few Original z31 owners over there too! Unless you are already a member and I just haven't noticed yet???? I'm a Mod on z31performance. I dont believe I have seen you over there though.

My 85 Was making about 450-500whp. I have since tore it down and put bigger badder **** on it. GT42r turbo (obviously), 860cc injectors, Magnafuel 1500hp fuel pump pulling from surge tank fed by walbro 255, And some other crap. Its a list that is about a mile long. My old times were mid 11's. With the new setup, I am aiming for high to mid 9's. Seems like every time I think I get there, there is another rule I have to modify the car to conform to though.

I just noticed you do tropical fish also. Salt or fresh water? I am a fresh water guy myself. I have a 125 gal in the living room with a 16" silver arrowana, ghost knife, dempsy, rope fish, blood parrot, and a peacock cichlid. My 55 gal houses my Red Devil by himself, to mean for other fish. My 10 gal houses my two Green spotted puffers and my 45 gal houses two silver tip sharks, two golden wonder killies, painted skirt tetra's and a beta, oh and a pleco.

Here's the Miata

Like Mark (mtcookson), I have a bit of a problem. I went through the following this year:1994 Q45 (sold)2002 Kawasaki Meanstreak (sold) not actually a car1993 240SX convertible (bought/sold)1992 M30 convertible (bought/traded)1993 Maxima winter ride (possibly sold)1995 Q45t (bought/sold)1996 Miata (traded for,for sale in Spring or trade bait)

I feel like I'm forgetting something???

Currently driving someone else's 1996 240SX and looking for an SC300/400 or Z32 2+2.

I have the 02Q, 02 Maxima black on black, 94 Camry wagonV6 183000 miles, and my new picked up 98SLK 230 with 49,000 miles, new $3000 paint job with all new bushings and mounts.

You should get a Sirocco 16V, or a Corrado. I love those things especially the Corrado. My buddy lent his Sirocco(immacilate, first owner) 16V to a friend and never gave it back.

Rex,

I used to have these Konig Appeals on the Q. The offset was +40, 17x8. They never worked out. I was getting all kinds of tire rub. They look good on the Miata though.

Actually, I can't stand them. I've already picked up a set of 17x8 Racing Hart 3 piece wheels to replace them when it comes out of the garage. I just hope they're not too wide for the Miata.
