I have a 1984 300ZX that I bought brand new. I couldn't get the Turbo as I was only 23 and the insurance in 1984 was $5,000 even with my clean driving record! Well I still have it, not heavily modified save suspension which is not radical with Eibach springs, KYB shocks, Addco sway bars and bushings and the stereo sysetm which is Kenwood head unit, kenwood speakers (they were top-of-the-line when I got them), Alpline V12 400 watt amp and a large buzka tube connected to a 120 watt V12 bridged amp. The motor has 160k original miles, transmission rebuilt in 1992. Not a daily driver anymore but I love the car still as much as when I bought it. If I had room I'd score another one do what you did to you 85 and make a 400HP version.
I am not sure if they car will ever see cult status in terms of resale but there are tons of them that are completely trashed, many in the junk yard and there are fewer and fewer clean copies out there. It breaks my heart when I see rusted out ones with the rears sinking unde original stock shocks and springs.
I also have (as you see in sign line) a 2005 X-Terra 4x4 and the wife drives a 99" sentra.
Man, that is awesome! You should hop on over to z31peformance.com or 88hybrid.com some time. There are a few Original z31 owners over there too! Unless you are already a member and I just haven't noticed yet???? I'm a Mod on z31performance. I dont believe I have seen you over there though.
My 85 Was making about 450-500whp. I have since tore it down and put bigger badder **** on it. GT42r turbo (obviously), 860cc injectors, Magnafuel 1500hp fuel pump pulling from surge tank fed by walbro 255, And some other crap. Its a list that is about a mile long. My old times were mid 11's. With the new setup, I am aiming for high to mid 9's. Seems like every time I think I get there, there is another rule I have to modify the car to conform to though.
I just noticed you do tropical fish also. Salt or fresh water? I am a fresh water guy myself. I have a 125 gal in the living room with a 16" silver arrowana, ghost knife, dempsy, rope fish, blood parrot, and a peacock cichlid. My 55 gal houses my Red Devil by himself, to mean for other fish. My 10 gal houses my two Green spotted puffers and my 45 gal houses two silver tip sharks, two golden wonder killies, painted skirt tetra's and a beta, oh and a pleco.
