If you could have any car you wanted for your DD, what would you choose and why? Assume that your location and job stays the same (but you have unlimited income for this one time purchase ;) ). What are you driving to work everyday?

Me personally, I'm torn. I like the new Altima. Very comfortable, drives smooth as silk. However, the 370 in pearl white is

A D21.

Mostly due to the fact that you can still buy the whole frame from Nissan when the old one rusts through and they're small enough for decent gas mileage, big enough to haul random stuff around and are frackin' easy to work on.

Until they build cars that will never rust, D21 it is =). Unless a car company is willing to manufacture weather stripping, trim, and sheet metal for their cars till...well forever.

I like to stick with one car, one car only =).

Hmmm: If money was no object, and my last commute was long boring highway miles, perhaps a Mercedes SL55AMG. 500 hp, V10 goodness, does everything well, great soundsystem, comfortable, a real trunk, incredible seats. I have 2 friends that own them, and last time I was in one of them, I had to decide if I wanted Shiatsu or swedish massage in my airconditioned seats. :dblthumb:

But with a price as factor, I think my old 4 Runner fit the tab nicely. Comfortable, simple, great heater, poweful a/c, roomy enough haul anything on the way home, high ground clearance to wade thru flooded roads, part time 4WD, great in bad weather, ridiculously reliable, and decent gas mileage. The only two downside is 1. it's not sporty, but with the commute, that's not a priority, and 2. if I want a heated seat, I need to eat Mexican food th night before.

Nissan Fuga AWD.

I don't need the bed space of the truck nor the manual transmission. I have a long drive so a plush car would be great. The AWD would be of benefit as we get a lot of rain and the roads are coral which gets slippery. That, and the car is dead sexy!

My drive to work is relatively short, but if I had to choose, it'd be one of two cars.
CTS-V wagon

All the space for everything for a trip to the mountains and use in 4 seasons which is a big deal in New England.

Otherwise I'd be rocking a 911 Turbo S Convertible.

AWD with amazing performance and a convertible for those sunny days in winter. Man, I want this car.
WHY'D YOU HAVE TO BRING UP THIS TOPIC?!

Is the unlimited income also applicable to the gas costs for the life of the vehicle? If so, I'd probably stick with my truck. It's practical (outside of the gas cost), and the height of the vehicle makes it easier to see what's going on around me.

If gas isn't included, I'd probably take an older Honda with a manual transmission. It would be easy on the gas, and last a while. Not necessarily the most fun, but definitely the most practical.

I just bought myself a Protege5 wagon. I've owned several Proteges (all bought for under $1200 until this one) and they all served me pretty well. This time I decided to go with the wagon because I haul spears and quarterstaves now and then to theatre gigs. I'm hoping the gas mileage is good (yet to fill the tank- just got it Saturday), but so far the ride has been comfortable. stereo could use some improvement, but I probably won't bother. I'm glad I didn't get the ugly Teal color from the mid 90s for this though.
If I had been looking for a new car, I definitely would have been looking at the Versa.

Audi allroad (C5, not the new one), with a stick.

It can handle the good & bad weather, can lift itself up (if needed) to see over slow traffic, can lower itself for a sportier riding position, has enough space for my golf clubs/other random stuff and doesn't draw much attention to itself.

2005 Lincoln Navigator Ultimate

Great for warehouse runs and road trips and since its "free" for the purposes of this hypothetical situation that would offset a few years of fuel costs.

Jaguar XJL Supersport

Big luxurious car that drives like something much smaller. Brilliant chassis, great driver feedback, fantastic 500hp supercharged V8.

Oh, and it's utterly gorgeous.

Practically - A Volvo V70 T5R Wagon or a low mileage 03 Maxima SE 6spd.

Money is no object - Mercedes E63 AMG or a BMW M5.

saw a black one on I-40 the otherday...mmmm.

I want one of these though.

oh, and with any daily. AC is a must. I need to fix the Civic's...400 bucks for a compressor that's notorious to take a s*** in a few years though...then TN summers happen. I'll do it this coming spring maybe.

Since I've got unlimited funds for the purchase I can get this, sell it, quit my job and buy pretty much anything I'd realistically want.

I would buy a R35 in paint code QAB. Then I would turn around and send it to so some shop in Sweden (the same shop that made the head on Ken blocks fiesta) and have them make me a completely custom transmission that is an actual standard (I would have them make me 7 speed to be exact) then make the custom shift linkage and custom driveshaft to go to the front diff as well as a custom carbon fiber shift bezel just for the hell of it.

The linkage would be made out of titanium and the driveshaft would be made out of carbon fiber reinforced aluminum. The trans would be made out of Aluminum as well. I would have a custom clutch that would just be stupid expensive plus I wouldn't buy just one clutch I would buy a few so that I could have replacements on hand for the years to follow.

As for the shift knob it would be Nismo titanium shift knob. (same shift knob on my Z)

From there I would have them load the R35 back onto the boat and it would go to AMS in detroit. Yall should already know whats going down over there. :naughty:

Before anyone asks or says anything let me say this:
Yall are probably thinking well you won't be able to do all that because Bex said one purchase.

Well what would happen is I would work a deal out with Nissan to have them do all this and set it up ect. Basically I would just pay them directly then Nissan would get the money to where it needs to go and make their mark-up (shop in Sweden and AMS Detroit).

But now I'll be realistic.

I would be perfectly fine with a fully equipped Z34 Nismo edition painted in QAB (brilliant pearl white).
