I mean yes the car runs fine, the Engine sounds great is in great condition. What is weird about the shifting, and speedo is that they work some times and, sometimes don't I mean the RMP, Fuel, and H/C reader don't work at all, the speedo is the only that works, only sometimes.AZhitman wrote:Sounds like body control module, but we need more info.
Car runs fine?
The intermittent speedo and shifting issue is likely seperate.
Did you buy this car used? Perhaps from Louisiana?
OK would that fix all the issues.?beancooker wrote:I'm with Greg (AZhitman) on this one. Sounds like it could be the BCM. I'd still check the main fuses, but I think G is correct.
Ok I'll post back with my findings, but would this problems cause the Trany to act the way is acting?NSR A32 wrote:Definitely sounds like a BCM to me. If you bought the car used and more recently, I'd take it back to where you got it and tell them what's up. Electrical issues are not fun.
Here's what I would do.1. Check the wiring harness that runs over the left front strut tower for any signs of damage and/or breakage. The 5th gen Maximas are prone for that breakage.
2. If there is no breakage, check your ECM for burnt circuits. If there are, replace the front and rear engine mounts because they have a notorious history of causing ECM damage due to faulty design.
Well after looking around, we've found that the car in fact has sustaing water damaged, like you predicted the mechanic told me that there is alot of rust on some of the boards like, the drivers side window board, and so on he would like to keep the car until friday to tell me the extend of the damage, I honestly don't want to expend alot of money, Like most of us, but when I told him about the BCM, he told me it was damaged but he didn't look like he knew what I was talking about.AZhitman wrote:Sounds like body control module, but we need more info.

I do understand where you're coming from Mike, Thanks for your honesty. The car was not total as a damage water vehicle, and the car is fully insurable by any company, there isn't any water smell or damaged in the carpets or leather seats. I haven't commit to buy the car Yet I'm looking for some answers and solutions to the problem, from people that have nothing to gaing from the situation, like you Mike I don't want to listen to him or to any mechanic with out having any knowledge about the situation.Mike G wrote:Personally, I think you should walk away from this one, unless you are a pretty competent mechanic, you might have a shot. Was the car totalled as a water damage vehicle? If so, you may not be able to insure it after you buy it. There is a reason your "freind" is selling it so cheap, he doesn't want to deal with it's problems either.
Just my $.02's --Mike
