What is UP with the panic button on my fob?!?

AARRRGGHHH!! For some reason, I am (almost weekly) accidentally setting off the panic button on my fob, when I'm fiddling around with my keys, or putting them away, etc. I *never* did this once with my other car.

Is anyone else having this problem? I certainly don't want to disable it, though, in case I would ever need it. Although, no one's come running to my aid yet!

Has only happened to me once -- I found this (probably 12 cents worth of plastic)

I haven't bought one yet -- thinking of camo so I can lose my keys in the woods

I have one in blue and I like it alot I have never hit the panic button and it keeps the remote from getting scratched up, well worth the price I paid!

I've never accidentally hit the panic button on the Fob, but, HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE BATTERY in the fob? I don't need to do it now, but it's not obvious how you get this thing open.

Take the fob off the key chain, and pry it open starting with the gapped edge at the bottom of the fob where it links to your keychain. That would be my guess, anyway. No screws on it, so it's probably held together by pressure snaps.

I saw the title of your post and my first thought was "your pants are too tight"... I set off my alarm quite frequently if I'm wearing my jeans, keys in pocket, and I shift wrong.

We, too, were setting off the panic button a lot. West Covina Nissan sells those little rubber fob covers. Since we put them on we haven't set off the panic button at all. It recesses the buttons just enough so that you don't accidentally push it.

The one that fits the Versa also fits the Murano so might find them at your own local dealer or auto parts store and avoid paying shipping.

Happens to me too. Car beeps every now and again as a button is getting pressed while keys are in pocket. Doesn't seem to take much.

tee hee Actually, they're never in my pocket - I somehow manage to do this constantly *just holding them*. I will call my dealer to see if they sell the covers. Thanks everyone!

I just set my keys on my desk and saw why I never have a problem with my alarm being "pressed". I have a large ring that connects my key release to the fob. The ring is 1" wide/ @ 1/2" to ea side of the Nissan fob when it's attached. The circular shape keeps the Nissan fob far enough away from being pressed when it's in my pocket.

It happens to me all the time also. Panic button is pretty sensitive.
