What is "Tuning the engine"??

I was wondering what "tuning the engine" is, and what it does. Will it get me more HP if it is tuned a certain way? I know the I30 of the same year of my Maxima got 30-40 more HP... I think... But yeah, can someone answer this?? Thanks!!!

Pretty much the only tuning available to our cars is through fuel management. You would have to install a fuel management system and have the car dyno tuned to optimize the air fuel mixtures. But if you add a 00-01, or MEVI intake, the gains will be more noticeable.
