I thought the same thing, minus that cover. Did the VH41 Q's have that cover? (basically it saying Nissan seems strange)

Yeah, it does in the Y32 generation...

A little clarification:

I've seen three different types of VH41DE engine.

'First gen' like mine is found in the Y32 Cima, has the spider manifold in cast grey with a plastic Nissan V8 plaque on it (kinda like in my old sig), and the standard TCS throttlebody servo motor is black.

'Second gen', while I've never pulled one apart, appears it would be exactly the same as first gen, except the spider manifold is anodised a slightly bronze colour and has a metal Nissan V8 plaque, and the TCS servo motor is also a goldy/bronze colour. It may not even be 'second gen' as such, but just released in a different vehicle like the j-ferie or something.

'Third gen' is found in the Y33 Cima, and is the one we commonly refer to as the US VH41. It's not actually US specific, it's just the later version of the VH41 engine and the only version that you guys in the US actually got. It lacks the main bearing beam, has been reduced to single row timing chain around the cams, and of course, lacks the familiar spider manifold. Rocker covers are different too.
