What is this tube under the stock air intake?

Cant find it in the FSM, here is a picture i circled it in red. It connects to the bottom of the stock air intake tube.

Im sorry I mean the BIG tube with the paper towl stuffed in it, i was a little sloppy with my circling :P

Found out it goes to the resonator box for the stock intake. Guess I can remove it since i have a short ram.
