Hi, I went and changed the fuel filter on my car, and after turning it on and letting it run for a while, I noticed a light tapping noise near the front of the valve cover.

I have included a 25sec video clip (made at 10pm) so you can hear for yourself. It should be a fast download and it's only 2.5MB:

BTW, My car is a 92 Coupe, 5-spd, with about 85K miles.

Thanks, Bye!

it isn't a very clear video, but it almost sounds like some noisy lifters.

don't want to make assumptions though, because it could just be something exhaust related.

Hi,I've heard it could be my timing chain guide floating around.

Will try to have that checked out tomorrow.

Ditto for Nismo-Freak. I've relplaced 3 Timing chains on the 4 240's that I've had. Hit me up if you want some info on fixing it. I've pretty much got it down pat. It's pretty much a weekend job. I got it done in a LONG day the last time. The oilpan is the hardest part. NEway, leeme know if you want some help.

Austin is only 8hrs from here, no biggie! LOL. Actually, for a chance to ride in Aries car, it just might be worth it! You'd have to provide the parts and the beer, but this could be arranged!

I always thought that noise was just the valve on the valve cover breather opening and closing. I had a GMC truck that made the same noise and when you pulled the breather valve out the sound was comming from it.

maybe on a chevy, but not from a Nissan. The DOHC's were infamous for having timing chain problems.

Aires, I might have to take a little vacation before school start up again in august and come down and check your car out. Are you going to the national convention?
