I came across this dial a while back when I was running speaker wire, but I ignored it and forgot about it. It is some type of Pot with a notched rotation, I turned it a few clicks in either direction out of curiosity. It appears to be original, the only custom accessory are fog lights which have a toggle above my left knee. This thing is located in a gap above the right end of the junk tray that covers the blower on the passenger side.

Haven't the faintest idea. Nothing like that in my truck, but mine is a different sort of beast, '81 2wd (no ac or anything). Trace the wires and see where they go! I'm curious.

Got me on that one. I just had the dash out on mine and nothing like that on the passenger side. The only thing that even remotely sounds like it is the dimmer switch to the instrument cluster back light, and that doesn't look like that at all. Have to wonder if it wasn't part of someone's stereo system, either balance or fade sort of switch.

I gutted all the radio stuff when I got it, so its not that. I was running new wires across to the right speaker when I noticed it, after work tomorrow I'll take off that tray again and trace the wires. The strangest thing about it that it seems to be original, but its in a weird spot and hidden. I have the 4x4 ST "sport truck" model, and mine was one of the last 720's made before the hardbody started that year, if that helps ?

It's most definitely for a Stun Ray of some sort. That pot is probably for setting the intensity. Maybe there's an activation switch or button hidden somewhere else?

My investigation has given me more questions than answers, on the rear of the dial it has a bare metal solid wire (looks like a temp probe) coming out and disappearing behing the heater core, there is also 2 blue wires. One of these blue wires also disappears behind the heater, and the other is connected into a black factory harness in front of the blower. It may be worth mentioning that my AC was converted to r-134 before I got the truck, but I still have no idea what the hell this dial is doing there !

Looks like a temp control switch. But not an auto type. It looks like one on the water heater in the boat I work on. Thats strange.

maybe a timer of some sort for the cab light? Nothing like it in my '85 4x4 either, though, at least that I ever noticed when I took the dash off.
