It allows the oil another path the drain back down to the pan. The oil drain passages on some Nissan may be to small at higher RPMS and the oil will build up in the head, causing the oil pump to starve and cause all kinds of damage.

first time I saw it on a CA. I have seen a couple of RBs like that. My buddy has the mod on his engine.

That cylinder head didn't seem very special to me. Mine came back looking like that from the machine shop and it only cost me $300 bones. Its got stock valves and everything in it. I don't really see why he needed to modify it like that, unless he has to run really high oil pressure to lubricate both turbos or something. Thoughts?

I have never seen it done to a CA before as I said. I have never heard of a CA exhibiting the problem like RBs can so I don't think it is needed.

As TMS said, I haven't heard of it being a problem on the CA, but it certainly can't hurt anything.

The problem with the RB IMHO is that it's got about the same size oil drain as the CA but has about 1/3 more surface area on the head.

they actually make a jet to restrict the oil feed to the head on the RB26.
