I'm not sure how it broke, the connector, but I didn't find any information as to what it is in my searching.

seems how this is your first post let me welcome you to NICO...that sensor is called the IAC valve. its used to control your idle for certain system that can draw your engine down when being engaged like your AC system mainly...in the future the big red search button comes in very handy for these type of questions..again welcome to NICO

Okay skippy, I thought the valve beside the one pointed out was the IAC and figured the other was a compensator of some sort. This valve is to small to take care of the air requirements of an engine idling.

Carl says it's the fcid... and again (read the post as I already searched before I asked the question) I don't get an answer to the question by searching for fcid or IAC.

If I do need it, not running AC, is there a USDM part that can replace it.

I also looked through the FSM and maybe I missed it but didn’t see labeled on any of the diagrams.

Seriously thanks for the help, and it’s not always a good assumption to believe that because someone has 1 post or is new to the forum that we’re clueless. Most all, if not all, auto forums work the same so it’s nothing new. Just my first time needing to use this forum. And yes I did expect a response like yours and no I’m not hurt… Usually what I’ll do if I tell someone to search that already stated that they searched is to try it myself and if I get the answer give them the search terms to help them along.

Again, thank you.

no harm done...yes it is the ficd...its one part of the IAC valve...do you need it to run the car,no. seems how you are deleteing the AC you can remvoe ti entirely if you so choose and block off the holes or just leave it unplugged...you will have to compensate the idle somehow, if you have a PFC you can do it that way or you can adjust the screw on the throttle body to get your desired rpm at idle..just so you know by removing it you will experience an idle problem at cold start up...thats another one of the jobs of the IAC valve...by removing it or unplugging it you will experience this type of runnign condition...however once the car reaches operating temp the conditon will correct itself.. but like i said you will have to compensate it by raising the idling the old fashioned way..

But doesn't the other valve take care of the "normal" idle duty... as in when there is no AC request?

the fcid is for raising the idle for the ac, nothing more.leave it in there because it will be hard to block the hole off otherwise.

the IAC valves main job is to control the idle quailty in two areas. one for cold start like i stated and two to maintain idle control when a load is put onto an engine

The same thing happened to my motor set. The piece that broke off was still in the connector, so I straightened the pins then made sure the broken piece fit over them properly. I applied super glue and let cure, magically it was like new.

If you prefer to replace it, the part comes on many USDM nissans, here is one on EBAY for $10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

I think the KA has it too, if you still have that lying around. Search any of the 90's nissan v6s and I4s online or at the local parts store and you are sure to find it.

Thanks for the link Rustbucket! Good to know it's not one of those parts I have to get over night'ed from Japan... ;^)

But ya, I took it out and did the same thing last nigh... straightened the pins and made sure to push the connector back on in the correct orientation and hit with some super glue.

The way the connector broke I didn't think it would be an option, but it worked out in the end.

Not sure if it was me that broke it but I assume that the bracket to hook a ... hook to lift the engine out being right next to it is the cause of these getting broke.

Thanks again for the help... getting toward home so I'm sure my post count and searches are going to start going up.
