Does anyone know what could be causing this slime/waxy substance to form around the edges of my coolant hoses? Could it be my cheap OBX silicone radiator hoses melting? The hose itself is orange, and the stuff around the edges of the hoses is the same color. The clamps are tight around the hoses, but it's still oozing out. I'm loosing coolant from the overflow tank because of this (i assume). I already ordered new OEM radiator hoses.

Are you the one who originally installed those hoses?!

If not, I would suspect the person who did thought they were very smart and used silicone to provide that ever special extra seal...

I've seen that **** done on a thermostat of a Honda Integra by some 'technician'.I told them to get rid of it and replace the hose and gasket.

take pics of the inside of that hose when you replace it, if its all up in that biatch, u might wanna do another flush, cuz chances are its in your coolant passages too

drain coolant, pull hoses, inspect for melt down/cracks/defects, clean hoses, and the inlets/outlets of rad and engine, reinstall those hoses (or your new oem ones), flush the hell out of cooling system....twice, refil, and watch for more leaks. shouldnt take more than an hour, and a gallon of coolant.
