So this item was mounted on the inside of my bumper and I saw it when I was installing my dual intake system. But I have no idea what it is lol.
Also, there is some brown dirt? or build up in my intake pipes under the headlights, not a wet oil build up but it is dry, it wipes away like a powder or dirt, any ideas? Do I need to remove the pipes and clean it out? I can get pics if anyone would like to see

The crap in the intake pipes could be evidence of the car swallowing some water previously.

The old single pop filter looked like it had seen some days, think it could have been from that?

A POP Charger is definitely more prone to picking up water than the factory air box is, that said if it was not enough to travel up the intake there was likely no harm done. Nissan did a great job designing the intake system to reduce the possibility of water getting into the manifold. If you are bothered by it you can disassemble the intake tract and clean everything out. The other possibility I didn't think of previously is it may be PCV drain off from the front PCV pipes. IIRC on the NA they run directly to the underside of the accordion pipes which connect to the metal pieces under the headlights, over the years it may be oil residue that has collected, this could mean some excessive blow-by or it could have to do with the environment the car lived in causing the oil to condense before being sucked into the TB.

In the TT it's less likely, they run to the turbo inlet pipe so under any load at all it should be getting sucked into the turbo, but then if your turbo is puking from all ends I guess its possible for the turbo to actually be producing the oil. Ultimately there are too many ifs here, you need to remove the piping and investigate.
