What is this part? Oil seepage

Happy holidays all
I was replacing starter yesterday and came across oil seepage what appears to be from the part, circled in the pic attached.
Not a leak, just kind of thick "dust" over the flat top. There's some seal I can see.
To keep in mind, right next to it, towards the firewall, was broken in a half PCV valve, entire upper half of it came out of the valve base. Maybe it was blowing oil fumes onto that part. Inches apart.

Those are VVEL (variable valve lift) actuators. There's a seal around the perimeter which could be leaking, but if you had a broken PCV, it seems more likely you were blowing oil vapor on it.

Right. It did look like it.
Just in case and I mean + just in case, is that seal replaceable? I didn't see any screws or bolts to separate the device to remove seal.

You shouldn't need to touch the VVEL, the seal goes into the rocker cover. I believe it's the same on all VK56's with VVEL, and I know it's replaceable on the Titans and Armadas.

I get it. So there are 4 bolts holding actuator to the valve cover and then it simply pulls out.
