What is this on my 2015 Rogue rear doors?

Noticed this on both sides of the rear doors on my 2015 Rogue yesterday.

Looks like some sort of strip in the lower corner panel. It's on both rear doors and in the exact same spot.

I just recently purchased the vehicle and unless you get really close they are hard to see.

Is this some sort of sensor?

Sorry for the dirty car, it's winter in Chicago.

Thanks for your help.

That's no sensor. It's just a regular plastic strip, that's all.

Does your 2016 have that as well? Not sure why there's just a random strip of plastic there?

I have that on my 2015 too. Never bothered with it so I just left it in place.

Yes and it does nothing at all and has never bothered me, otherwise my OCD (for cars) would've kicked in.

It's to guard against rocks and small dings. 3M clear protector.

If it bothers you you can easily remove it by heating it up with a blow dryer set to high heat or a heat gun set to low heat.

Is it possible It was applied as a part of the factory-to-dealer shipping protection and didn't get removed during dealer prep?

That could have been it or the previous owner of that Rogue might have applied a 3M paint protection clear coat.
