It's the lower chain tensioner that appears to have gone out. After pulling the head the valves are visably bent on several cylinders... and the pistons have a little scarring. I don't think I'll be rebuilding this one.

at least the ka's dont run alot. had a customer with an 01 altima recently had the same thing happen. tagged valves in every cyl and notched the piston heads pretty good. I put in a long block from a local wreaker and they are road worthy again.
