That is the stock boost solenoid. It is used to step the boost from 5 psi to 7psi, the Ecu grounds the solenoid at a certain RPM opening it allowing the waste gate actuator to see true boost and open at 7psi.

I don't use mine, its ok to unplug and throw in a corner somewhere

Do you know where this is on the rb20det or if it has one?

If you dont use it, you will run at 5psi at all times. Or like 300plus said, you can plug it in and use 5psi at low revs and 7psi at higher revs

Then if you use it and ground the wire, you can run at 7psi at all times, common mod for skyline owners

i hope you mean with vac lines still hooked up and solenoid unplugged. Either way I just bypass the solenoid completely and run a boost line straight to the wastegate...

Yes by that i mean running a vacuum line straight to the wastegate, the way you are setup is boosting 5psi.

Well then thats wrong... with wastegate hooked directly up to boost you should be hitting a full 7psi.. which is where the factory wastegate should open.

I will add that this from what I am showing on my autometer mechanical boost gauge

the wastegate is a 5.5psi spring, the boost solenoid is what allows it to run 7psi.

Autometers are not the most accurate gauges

25 actuators tend to spike to 7psi but then settle down round 5.5-6psi.replace it with a 20 actuator and get a nice 10psi solid.
