That lil damper is what works your intake butterfiles connect by a vaccum to open and close them.correct me if im wrong during idle and cold starts. Its part of your emisions just remove it or leave it.

Yeah thats part of your EGR stuff. There's really no point in removing it, and its a PITA to get rid of all of it unless the motor is out of the car. Just leave it all unless you're pulling the motor for something else.

thats the solenoid for the swirl control valves. it doesnt come off, as in, it stays connected to ur intake runners. that would not be the cause for ur head not coming off or ur intake not coming off the head. atleast i dont think it would possibly hang u up.

ive only taken the runners off the head w/ the motor outside of the car though, and sometimes they can be tricky or feel stuck. jiggle the sht out of it and double check for something else that might be hanging u up.

you are correct.

their are only 7 or 8 bolts that hold the intake mani to the head. and that has nothing to do with it.

i was just looking at it right now and that damper thing isnt holding me up... but something is... im just taking off the upper half of the intake mani as you could see in the pic... the intake is completely loose

anyone else have problems when removing the intake W/ the engine in the engine bay

its a b**** getting it off sometimes. last time i took the intake mani off it was catching something too. dont remember what though.

in reguards to the butterfly solenoid, you dont neccessarily NEED it. but in order to get it out you have to remove the upper half of the plenum, unscrew the 4 butterflys from inside the mani, remove a screw that holds the rod in, and pull it out the side of the manifold. its impossible to do without removing the intake manifold

Did you get the pcv hose off and the vacuum hoses off the back of the intake? It's a lot easier to do the job with the motor out.Good time for an all around inspection. Not much left once you have all the hoses and elec connnections off.All the back vacuum hoses can stay on as well as the intake. It's a good idea to pull the exhaust manifold off before you pull the engine though.Remember to pull the heater hoses too.
