What is this hole in my transmission for??

I was down under the car today and saw this big *** hole in my transmission with what looks like a white gear inside of it?? My speedo doesnt work..........

you hit the nail on the head, the pic is a little fuzzy, but that looks like the spot where your speed sensor should be...without it you will...throw a celhave no speedometerhave no odometer

install a new one, but make sure you use the right one, s13/s14 are different

lol how the **** did that happen. has it been off for long? cuz its not real good to not have any transmission fluid

I have no Idea.....its okay i dont daily drive it...its not going anywhere until it gets fixed..
