I ordered a front brake service package from my local Nissan dealership, and in the package were the retaining clips, shims, shim covers, and a iittle plastic pouch with some gold coloured gel in it.

Is this the PBC that my FSM tells me to apply to the retaining clips where the pads sit? Im guessing it's just an anti-sieze compound, but I'm not sure.

Any ideas what this stuff is and where it goes?

it should go inbetween the pads and shims, then you can put a little were the piston contacts the shim if you want

yes that is pbc grease. it costs roughly $60 for a bottle of less than one liter size. good stuff. pbc stands for lead and copper. it has those suspended in it and is therefore quite heavy. not only is it a good anti-seize but has enough mass to dampen some noises. good stuff.

So it's basically an anit-squeal compound, not anti-seize?

If so, why does my FSM indicate to apply the PBC to the retaining clip?

Not doubting you guys, I'm just confused.

so that the clip doesnt vibrate and make noise, it also does prevent siezing too so thats another reason
