this is mounted under my rear deck accross from the oem cd changer. anny idea wth it is? i'm looking to remove the bose system and this might as well go while i'm in there if i don't need it.

And, yeah, you can take it out. It was an Analog AMPS phone, and those don't work anymore. AMPS is gone as of February 18 this year, in almost all the US.

BTW, if you have not thrown it out already, I'd love to pay shipping to you to send it (along with the center console stuff and wiring - if you are willing to take it out) to me ... my cellular collection at work could use one. The old one I had in my 1991 Q45 went with the car when I traded it in years ago, so I don't have that anymore!

i'm not pulling all the wiring yet but its possible i may shoot it your way. i'll look into it tomorrow and if it's worthless to me it's yours.

I saved the one out of my Q for a few years, but finally tossed it. The build quality on those old phones was amazing.

It was a Motorola-design - well-built and solid. I loved the way it was integrated into the audio system - when a call came in, or you made a call from the handset in the center console, it automatically muted the stereo and restored it at the end of the call! Cool!

Unusable today, of course ... oh, well.
