Here's the 6-puck installed from cuzan0. So I'm not sure if it's metal...the material on the disk looks like semi-metallic brake pads or something.

With the old boy in there.

Got my z32 maf, adaptor, and filter.

Out she comes. Make sure to unbolt the transmission crossmember by the way. Heh.

In goes the ca. While the motor was out, I rented a pressure washer and cleaned out the engine bay, sanded it and painted it flat black. The car will eventually be midnight blue.

Wiring up here is half way done; I need to run to the store and grab more connector doodads.

The GTiR t28. There is no way a bigger compressor side will fit on the stock manifold, because there is about 1mm or less clearance with my turbo. Has anyone bolted up a gt25r's t04s? Oil and water lines are a piece of cake, but my hotpipe is hitting the hood, so some cutting is in order here.

Throttle cable is too short, so I need to do fab a new bracket.

So much useless crap(except the radiator, which I put a hole in). I swear, half the crap here is from a/c. Condenser, evaporator, compressor, etc. I really wanted to keep it, but I just don't want to deal with the hassle.

Here's where I'm a little confused. WTF is this??? It has a nipple for a vacuum source, an overflow type of tank, some line from the KA that I haven't traced yet, and a line that looks like it runs all the way to the gas tank. What is this???

And what is this?

And this thing connects to some lever behind the firewall. I figured it must be a/c, heater, cruise or something not important.

Finally, what is this bad boy? I know it was attached to the actuator for cruise control, but I forgot what else.

Thanks in advance for the help.

That ca is teh sesgky.

The first thing with the vac line is your charcoal canister. It's part of your evaprative emmisions gear.

The second thing is your clutch master cyl.

The third thing is your wiper motor.

Don't know about #4.....on the S12 that was where the boost gauge vacuum line ended up + a crap load of other assorted vac lines. I think I have a pic some where of the mess o' crap that was in that area on my clip......but I'm sure somebody else knows what it is.

Good luck on your swap, she's lookin good. BTW whats keeping you from sawzalling your hotpipe?

the GT25 with t04s and .7 A/R compressor cover will NOT fit on the standard manifold, its just way too big.

Trim the cable housing behind the mount---you can then fit the KA throttle cable on there. Be careful not to cut the cable.

I have also heard the 89-90 cable fits perfect ( never tried it though)

ive got an '89 and the throttle cable from my KA went on "like buddah".

i wouldnt worry about that last thing, its probably just the cruise control actuator deal. you wont have cruise control with the CA and mine had a little canister thingy that mounted there, so i tossed the stupid thing.

o, and your swap looks nice as hell. if your clutch looks like a semi-metallic brake pad then you should have a metal clutch of some kind. if it is, be prepared to learn how to drive all over again. im not sure how harsh different metals are, but brass is a whore. lastly, where did you find that hot pipe? it looks very choice. did you buy it or make it? if you bought it, where? anyway, good luck! its coming along nicely.

oh, and if you need another radiator, ive got an extra one in excellent condition. has a few bent fins but i think its about 98% mint. i could send it your way for next to nothing. let me know. if not, a spare is always good for me to have (especially seeing the number of attempts my engine has made on the radiator).

I'm bidding on a stock radiator, but if it gets to be more than like $10 I'll come straight to you tim, thanks.

I bought the hot pipe with a greddy type r bov on ebay from some exporter in Japan. It is pretty sick, and it came with 3 silicone couplings, one with the different diameters on either end, which is expensive. I have since sold the type r and bought a type s.

Thanks for the help guys. About the evaporative emmissions crap, do people typically just remove this? Does the line lead to the gas tank? And anyone know how it works?

Because my turbo's compressor cover barely fits and it's a t3, I'm curious if a t04b cover fits, like from other t28s.

By the way, I only have 1 sound motor mount out of 4 (ka's were TOAST and one from ca has a broken stud) so if anyone has an extra mount lying around they don't want, can you hook me up? They're $125 each from the dealer new, and I'm broke!

Oh, here's a problem: The car was last titled in Arizona, and to transfer titles to CA you have to get the vehicle inspected where they make sure the engine is working and legal. This is before the smog hassle. Any pointers? Should I ask Greg if I can use his address? Ha.

someone has a legal CA on here, i forget who... try doing a search on it. i dont have much faith in that button though.

i kept the charcoal canister and teed my bov off one of the lines going to it. ill probably get rid of it this time around but you may want to keep it because of CA emissions.

and sorry, i gave (yeah, i even paid for shipping! how cool am i?!) my other motor mounts to the other tim on the CA board. the ones i gave him only had 22k miles on them whereas the ones im using have 130k on them. wasnt thinking but his gain i gues, haha.

Nah, I just wanted to get attention back to the thread. I still need to find out more about the evaporative emmission control doodad, and I'm curious if the t04b cover fits on the stock manifold because some day I might want to switch covers.

I don't know which housing the s15 t28 uses, but it fits on a stock manifold... as does the s14 t28. are those t04b housings?

I just removed all the emissions stuff from my car (but they don't check that crap here in Florida). I don't know of too many Cali guys (at least on Nico) with CA18's but I'm sure they exist. Just go the same method the SR guys go when they register them...

Titling and smogging are 2 different things. I've got the smog thing figured, but I need to transfer titles from AZ to CA. Hmmm.

wait, that did happen, the guy behind me actually had to turn on his lights! nothing happened to me, haha

oh, and ill let you know when my t04b compressor fits. because it will fit.

Hmmm, im in Cali and had to have my out of state car inspected by the cops. I dont know what you would do unless you know someone on the inside. They ask you to pop the hood and **** to verify the vin #'s. I had a KA24 when they did this to my car...

boroboro, do they just check the vin # on the engine and compare to the vehicle's? Do they check for smog equipment? Do they make sure it runs? The ka I have isn't fully assembled, and I don't want to put it together.

hey rmiller, what other parts do you need to fit the GTiR turbo and make it work? did you customize anything (inlet/outlet pipe...etc.)? and what oil/water lines are you using? thanks alot!

Uhh, reclock the compressor, bend the stock lines, fabricate an oil drain line, the inlet and outlet pipes both need to be cut and rewelded, and the wastegate bracket needs to be modified with some elbow grease. And by elbow grease I mean use a grinder or the like and cut out sections and weld it up. The whole process takes a couple hours or so.

It's nice that the turbo flows a little more than an s14 turbo, at 33 lbs/min vs. 31. But the hotside has a .86 a/r and I'm worried about when I'll see full boost.
