Admittedly I haven't totally read through the user manual so I don't know if this is addressed...but what is the small access panel on the front bumper? I tried looking in there last night but it was dark and I didn't have a flashlight, and couldn't make anything out...

I haven't really looked, but at a guess, I'm gonna say place for the front front license plate bracket.

I didn't read about it either, but I think I know what it is. That small piece pops off and there is probably a threaded whole under there. More than likely, there is a long "eye-bolt" in with our jack somewhere. You take the eye-bolt and screw it in to the threaded whole so if you need to get pulled out of the snow or something, there is a safe place to attach to. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I remember that on past cars.

Yep, a hole to insert the huge eyebolt that is in the "jack pack." I asked the service manager to unlatch it just because I was nosey and hadn't had any luck with gentleness. He declined for fear he'd screw something up.

Smart man.

Ah, my next guess.

Although I haven't looked how to attatch the front plate bracket they gave me yet either.

Since you're in NC, too, why bother with the front plate? Mine came with one which I took off, and it left holes where they screwed the self-tapping screws in. But if you really want to do it, I'd mark and drill pilot holes and then screw the holder on. It's just so much prettier without it!

Ah, see I didn't know it went through the bumper yet (as I hadn't looked at all). I was just gonna put my alumni tag on the front, but I won't mess up the bumper just for that.thanks
